It was only one deck up to Zef’s quarters and Faye couldn’t even tell you how she got there. Did the ‘distance’ return? Or was her ability to remember things that badly impaired by all the whiskey? Ehh, oh well, it was what it was, wasn’t it. Faye chuckled to herself as that thought rolled through her mind.

She was supposed to do this anyway, so why not now? Faye reached out and pressed the chime, though her finger did rest on it a bit longer than was customary. she hadn’t checked the time, so she hadn’t known it was nearly 0400 hours.

If Faye had bothered to look at herself in the mirror, she might have ran a brush through her hair, or changed out of the black garment that Rollo herself had given her. Or maybe even put on some footwear.

But no. She smelled of whiskey and was rather dishevelled and… in bare feet.

Faye didn’t seem to notice.

Sound asleep, Zef dreamed the ship was in trouble and a Red Alert klaxon was chirping. Chirping? No matter what the crew did, the alarm couldn’t be turned off.

She came awake with a start. “Wha..?” Was that the door chime? Believing it must be an emergency, she threw on a robe and ran to the door, one hand running back through loose hair. Her body activated the sensor and it opened to reveal…Faye? Zef stuck her head out in the corridor and looked both ways. Nothing. So, it really was just Faye?

Taking a deep breath while she tied the sash at her waist, Zef squinted at the disheveled woman. “Are you alright?”
