Once again her heart rate was on its way down and Faye finally felt sated, like her body and mind were finally in sync. Rolling onto her back in his bed, Faye draped her arm on the pillow above her head, she just lay there contented, her eyes closed for the moment. “Well… I don’t know about you but I consider that a highly successful experiment,” she said slightly breathlessly.

Luke let out a breathless laugh, “Now I’m reduced to a lab rat, how lovely.” He turned over, the covers were over them but at an obscure angle so his legs from the knee down were uncovered and he had no pillow. “But If I was to say so, it was a success. I’m just glad we didn’t kill each other I think that would have been a crying shame if we hadn’t gotten to do this beforehand at least.” He’d never had the need for pillow talk, at least not in the last few years and here he was with Faye. Luke imagined that she was ticking him of her imaginary conquest sheet, then he quickly shot himself he really shouldn’t think about her like that.

She turned her head to gaze at him. “No lab rats here,” she said softly. Sometimes he was so damn hard to interpret!

“Are you going to be staying or does the casual only limit us to things we do to each other in bed?” There was a playful tone to his question.

It had already popped into her head but for other more practical reasons. “Well, I’m not opposed to staying. I suspect I will sleep pretty well tonight and I’m not worried about absolute secrecy, though that being said, I wouldn’t mind staying off the crew’s gossip radar for at least a little while. I’ve had my fill lately.”

He shrugged from his laying position and watched her as she spoke before interjecting some of his own thoughts, “I figure staying of their radar would be beneficial for us both but then again, so would you staying. I mean were grown adults, rumours are just rumours until they’re proven and who the hell is going to believe that we of all people spent the night together. They’ll soon rather believe the Borg are actually a nice peaceful race.”

Reaching a hand out, she absentmindedly stroked his arm. “The real question is: how bad are your night terrors and is it something I have to worry about? Full disclosure here is pretty necessary.”

He liked having her there in his bed, and not just because of the activity that they forwent but because it oddly felt natural and secure. “I wake up sometimes in a sweat, the odd calling out of random names, I wouldn’t know what I’m like leading up to that because I’ve never had anyone sleep in my bed or around me in some time. The honest truth is I don’t know how bad they are unless they wake me up. I tend not o sleep after though hence the late-night wondering.” He mimicked her own hand movements but instead traced the frame of her athletic body.

“Mine aren’t dangerous either, just… intense. But I haven’t had them since my recovery. I can’t predict how they will be since sleep has been a bit of a challenge since the brig,” Faye said. But some things had finally been settled in terms of her life on this ship and that had lifted a large weight off her mind.”

“I’d like you to stay.” He said finally, “but I’d understand if you didn’t want to. This is a whole new experience for me too and for lack fo better words experimenting is going to turn out some interesting results.” He leaned forward and kissed her forehead, it was warm but cooling rapidly, he could feel the heat exchange from her to his lips, that and her caressing of his arm made the hair on his arms stand up.

As tempting as it would be to reignite their passions, Faye was honestly rather worn out, both physically and mentally. The ceremony and socializing alone has taken a certain amount of energy and so much had happened that sleep would be very welcome. Shimmying closer to him, Faye turned on her side underneath his arm and reached to pull the blanket more firmly over them. “Let’s try it,” she said softly. Worse came to worse, it was too much and they never did it again.

Words were no longer necessary as Luke helped position the cover into a more rectangular position which now covered both their bodies, he would be lying if he said it was odd having someone sleeping in bed with him, he also wasn’t lying when he said that he hadn’t had such company in years. His arm fell neatly over her waist and tucked around her body so his hand rested beside her face on the opposite pillow. He didn’t want to say anything but she did fit perfectly in the space between them, though her hair a mess now from the recent activity did restrict some of his breathing as it tickled his nose. He closed his eyes and in the silence simply listened as thier breathing synchronised.

Luke couldn’t remember the last time he had slept without disruption, the thought of it alone gave him goose bumps. He opened his eyes and Faye was still laying opposite him though they were no longer hugging having at some point in the night separated. A smile tugged at his lips and a dangerous though danced across his mind, he could get used to this if he wasn’t careful, he had agreed to her terms and said nothing long term… There it was again that dancing thought, fleeting but present in the back of his mind.

He slowly edged his way out of bed, making sure he applied his stealthiest movement not to wake her, his shower was on the opposite side of his quarter and once there he could get ready for the day. Even with a party people saw him leave early and if he didn’t turn up like clockwork then the rumours would start flying though they’d likely sway towards him being removed from the ship after having almost killed Faye… The same Faye who was sharing his bed. What a messed up situation this was.

Looking back he watched Faye for a moment before padding barefoot across towards the shower room Luke noted the trail of evidence they left behind them in the wake of last nights activities, a smashed photo frame, a fallen over chair, articles of clothing leading towards the bedroom and the Klingon tapestry hanging precariously off the wall, he didn’t even want to address the smashed coffee table, it was going to be one hell of a cleanupjob. He chuckled, things did get a little carried away last night.
