“I know she is,” Shara said softly, though her pale blue-grey eyes were rather intense. She hadn’t hidden her pride for Faye since after the scene in the ready room. Back then it had been too much and she understood Faye hadn’t been ready to actually process her presence.

Walker chuckled before taking another sip of the chowder. Reaching over he broke off of a piece of the bread.

“She does know how to create quite a ruckus. Though from my experience, she usually has a pretty good reason.”

Shara snorted. “She’s been that way ever since she was a child.”

Taking the piece of bread, he dunked it into the chowder and took a bite. “This is really good. I wonder where we were able to get all of these ingredients all the way out here.”

Calloway grinned. “Ohhh, in my experience, a ship with access to a starbase and otherwise travelling about the unknown can find more than you think. Unusual acquisitions is a useful skill out here,” she said gesturing at large. “I do hope you’ll need less of those skills Chief than we ever did the last I was out here.”

“Hopefully not, though I’m not going to get my hopes up these days. With the CRIT team on board, I’m having to keep a lot more items on hand these days. With their mission being so varied, it’s nearly impossible to know everything we will need, and keep it on hand. That and I’m sure Chef wouldn’t mind a few extra fresh provisions when we make those stops.”

Stopping, he ate another spoonful of the chowder and had to stop to savor it.

Lukes interest moved away from the older Calloway and to Darach, “What do you think about the CRiT unit on board? Since coming here I have yet to decide whether having an entire section of officers dedicated CRit is worth the resources when the right training Security officers could do the same job.” It wasn’t a matter of who was better than who for Luke but he did have a difficult time understanding why they needed an elitist group of officers.

Walker set down his spoon and leaned back in his chair. Picking up his coffee cup he took a sip as he looked over at Luke.

“But isn’t the point of CRiT to be more then just highly trained fighters? Instead to be able to react to a given situation with the special skills they each bring to the table. And there whole job isn’t just CRiT. It is a secondary designation.”

Reaching for the bread, Shara had been listening to the conversation quietly, enjoying the chowder. “Is this some sort of cross-trained team?” she asked, curious about what that would look like on a ship like this. They definitely had the resources for it.
