He had the kitchen, she had the ingredients. It was time for hasperat!

Opting for something worthy of dinner with the captain, and dancing, Faye dressed in black leggings, low heeled leather shoes, and (over a black tank) a sheer black sleeveless tunic with a floral pattern in silver that hung low on her hips. Her hair was pulled back into a loose ponytail.

Within 30 seconds of it being 1900 hours, Faye arrived at Cochrane’s quarters with a small crate in hand. She was all but bouncing on her toes with excitement because this was something she had been looking forward to for awhile. Yes, it was taking on a different, and more casual tenor, but the more Faye had thought through her conversation with him after the ceremony, the more she was happy with the outcome.

Shifting the crate to one arm, Faye reached out and pressed the chime.

The door slid open and the sound of music came through immediately. Cochrane yelled form the side of the room “Come in!”. He was seated at the desk in the corner and looked up as she entered and said “Well hello! Set those on the counter and I will be with you in a second.” and he tapped away furiously for a moment and then stood up. “Sorry sorry sorry…”: and he moved quickly to help her. “Damn Fleet bureaucracy. I swear to the all the gods above if I could find a way to power a star ship with reports instead of dilithium, we’d colonize every rock in the galaxy in about three weeks.” and then he looked at her and smiled.

Faye laughed as she moved over to the kitchen to set the crate on the counter. It wasn’t heavy but there were lots of odd and ends and it had just been easier to carry that way. “I always figured if I earned latinum for every time I dropped a sarcastic comment I’m be such a rich woman by now. Reality does suck sometimes,” she said with a grin.

“So. How are we this evening?” he asked inquisitively. It had been a day or two since he had seen her and, although he kept informed of her status, he hadn’t tried to interject himself into her recovery time.

Inside the crate were a bunch of seemingly random vegetables, a small bag of flour and a small jar with something dark red inside. Faye began pulling out the vegetables one by one, setting them out in a line for him to see. “I’m good!” Faye said with a nod. “Starting to feel a bit antsy to be back on duty, so I might see if I can bargain with the counsellor about even part-days for the rest of the week. I get the whole not burying myself in work thing to avoid things angle, but I’m hitting that point where not doing my work is making more anxious. And that won’t help in the long run.”

“How about you?”
