Faye always liked it when musicians took an instrument and played unconventional music on it. There was something about it just just resonated with her. With a couple subtle nods of appreciation, she pulled out the jar and set it slightly to the side. “Okay, so we’re going to need a couple cutting boards and sharp knives, two mixing bowls, and two skillets. I am going to assume a well stocked kitchen, but maybe I should have checked first,” she said with a lopsided grin.
Alex played an overly dramatic insulted reaction. “You wound me.” and then he chuckled. “Ceramic knives are in the drawer to your left. Same for cutting boards. I’ll get the rest.” and he came around the island and went to the tall cabinets next to the cook top and began retrieving the bowls and skillets.
With a crisp nod, Faye hunted for her quarry, setting up a separate workstation for both of them.
“So… hapserat. As many ways to make it as there are regions on Bajor, and that makes it very easy to spoof. But I told you there was a story that went with it, and I feel like I should say up front that I have never taught anyone this recipe. I’ve made it for others before, But I’ve never shared the recipe.”

Alex set the cookware on the counter and then leaned back against the counter right next to Faye, crossed his arms on his chest, and looked down at her. “So why do you want to teach it to me, then?” he asked somewhat softly.
Cochrane
Turning her head to gaze at him, her often stormy eyes were calm and held warmth in them. “Because, as I told you, there’s a story that goes with it, and I’ve yet find a person worthy of that story. Until now,” she said simply. “And that feels especially more true after our chat the other night after the ceremony.”

Alex held her gaze with his own and put his right hand on his heart. He said softly and sincerely “Then it is indeed my honor to learn both.”
