(snip)

Pretha had remained just ahead of Naim and Faye as they went deeper. She hated the feeling of being watched, but had grown used to it enough on other missions she was only mildly distracted by it.

As the glow could be seen, she paused to let the others catch up. “Something is down there. And I’m guessing it’s not some glow bug.” She wasn’t sure it wasn’t a natural creature, but in the case of this much energy, she doubted it. As the comm came on, she sighed and responded. =^=Away Team here. We copy. We are deeper now and seeing a glow ahead. Huge energy readings that are flooding out the scans much past a few feet. A bit eerie but we are all safe still.=^= She wasn’t sure what all they would want, but she knew they had to get answers for the ship soon or more than a few glow bugs, if that’s what they were, were in danger.

=^=Thankyou Lieutenant, please be on alert… things are beginning to happen and it started with your entrance into the save system=^= Came the returning echoing voice of the chief of security.

With Faye scanning their surroundings as well and their tricorders not doing much good right now any way, Kiama decided to shift her focus from those unsatisfactory readings. Instead she allowed her mental shields to drop ever so slightly, hoping to sense or maybe even “hear” something that would be helpful. Of course the feeling of being watched might just be an illusion. Something her brain was conjuring up because they were in unknown and possibly dangerous surroundings. Or maybe there really was someone or something who was watching them. Hopefully her empathic and telepathic abilities would give her a better answer than her tricorder.

~Lt. Naim, CSO

Naim could catch what felt like distant whispers. Many of them. And only fleeting, fragmented, tickling at her mind but she was not able to actually catch anything. But there was something there, that was for sure. A lot of something.

Ahead as they approached the corridor ever so slowly widened, broadening to open up into the room. It was not a neat and tidy room, nor was it particularly furnished. Broad and round and made from the same black basalt, the floor angled up to the walls in such a way that it was more rounded than angular. Support ribs jutted out from the base up along the wall to the concave ceiling. The only thing in the room was a white stone well, its walls rising only about two feet from the dark stone floor, and it itself about ten feet in diameter. Dotted about the floor were chunks of dark, broken stonework because …

The thing that was utterly alien in the room was the ruined nose of a spacecraft that was jutting through the ceiling . Ancient, corroded in places, the hull sliced away on one side leaving hanging, corroded bits while bent, twisted metal from the hull hung almost directly over the well. Now and again drips from the ancient vessel fell into the well, causing accentuated echoes through the chamber.

OOC: Who are the first two people into the room :)

OOC: I think Pretha is walking ahead and Faye and Kiama are walking side by side (if the corridor is wide enough). I’m fine either way.

IC:
Kiama gasped softly as she “heard” the whisper in her mind. It was more than one “voice”, but she couldn’t make out anything. Without asking if it was okay, she placed one hand on Faye’s shoulder as they continued down the corridor. She wanted to focus more on what she was sensing. But she didn’t want to to and neither did she want to risk tripping over something. Both would slow them down and that was not an option right now. She was so focused on what she was sensing that she didn’t even see the well or the nose of the spacecraft in the room in front of them.

~Lt. Naim, CSO

Faye turned her head to Kiama and nodded questioningly. She was fine, but was Naim?

Kiama’s eyes were unfocused and she didn’t seem to really see her surroundings and the other members of the away team, including the questioning expression on Faye’s face when the other woman looked at her. Her focus lay too much on what she was sensing and “hearing”.

Williams was so confused because she knew that she was late but not quite sure what to do. Whenever she was ordered to do something she does it.

Lt. Williams

Williams could swear that she felt a light touch at her shoulder and what was like a whisper of breath by her ear …

Naim would sense the whispers to be louder as they approached the chamber .. or, perhaps not louder, but more of them. As much as she wasn’t paying attention, she would know that the focus was ahead.

When Lt. Williams thought that something touched her shoulder or even a whisper of breath by her ear she then jumped. She’s a jumpy person when she doesn’t expect things. All she did was just wondered around wondering why is she there still. It doesn’t make any sense at all until all that.

Lt. Williams

Pretha saw Williams jump and frowned. “LIEUTENANT!?” Her bark was one of caution and curiosity. Had something happened she missed? Suddenly her head was swiveling around looking for someone other than themselves.

Entering into the ‘room Faye’s stormy eyes widened as she looked up. “Well, hello there,” she said softly to the ship, scanning it with the tricorder. “So you’re the one giving us the run around, huh?”

Moving over to the well, Faye peered into it after a drip had gone down. “How much you want to bet this connects with the aquifer that runs under the crop fields?”

~Faye Calloway, Data Specialist

It took longer than it should have for Faye’s voice to register with Kiama, but when it did the Scientist finally became aware of what she was seeing in addition to what she was sensing. Blinking a few times, she whispered, “Wow!” Looking at Faye she continued, “I’m not going to bet against you. Though-” she briefly looked at each member of the away team who was down in this cave, “we are not alone. I can … hear … sense … people … whispering.” A deep frown appeared on her face as she struggled to find the right words to try and explain what she was sensing.

~Lt. Naim, CSO

“Lt. With your permission to speak freely.” She asked and thought that something was wrong. “To be on the safe side from now on instead of splitting up into teams I say we all stay together and if we find them and they attack us. We shall be ready. With all do respect Lt.” As she thought that she would know more about away teams. But she really doesn’t. She knew that if they all stayed together completely is the more safest thing that anyone can ever do.

Ensign william.

As the Lieutenant spoke up, Pretha relaxed slightly and smiled with a nod. “Permission granted. And I think that’s an excellent idea.” She glanced to Naim. “Your call. You said you sense someone or something here? Is there a direction, or connection, or reaching out from them?” She frowned hating to ask the final question. “And do you sense we are in danger?”

It was taking every ounce of control to not pull her phaser and just swing it around looking for someone or something to shoot. She hated her team sensing the ‘others’ and it troubled her that she couldn’t suss out what was happening.
