As often did with Faye and when she wasn’t being impulsive, ideas needed time to percolate. They needed space for her to examine from many angles and when she didn’t get that time and space she tended towards her all or nothing thinking. And being the scientist she was she preferred testing out ideas in controlled situations when possible.

It rarely was, but today she could.

Wandering through the ship, she made her way to her destination with determination. Arriving outside the brig she took a deep breath and tapped her combadge. =/\=Lieutenant Calloway to Cochrane. Captain, I need you to meet me outside the brig as soon as you are able. It’s important.=/\= Not a request, but not a demand. She was just asking for what she needed. And she was pretty sure he knew her well enough to know that.

Leaning up against the wall by the door, she waited for him to arrive.

Cochrane was in his office when the call came in. He scowled for a moment and then said =/\= Understood, Lieutenant. On my way. Have you discussed this with the Counselor, perchance? =/\= he asked as he stood up downed the rest of his coffee.

An inhale followed by audible exhale. =/\=Not precisely. But it’s tangential to other things that have come up recently.=/\= If he was going to insist she run every little thing by the counsellor, things for her would quickly become awkward and frustrating. On the other hand, Faye did understand his potential hesitancy. =/\=I can explain further when you arrive.=/\=

=/\= Two minutes, Lieutenant. =/\= came the reply and less than that time later, Cochrane rounded the corner. He looked at Faye and said quietly “I’ll need an explanation before we go in there, Faye.”

Pushing herself off the wall, Calloway gazed at her friend and mentor intently. “Naturally,” she said spreading her hands to the side a bit.

Faye gazed down the corridor before looking back at Alex and for once her entire demeanour was calm and certain. “If there’s one thing we both have learned about me recently it’s that I have stories that have been secrets. And those secrets while intended to keep me safe, to… help me move on, have done damage.” She pointed to the brig door. “I can’t let this be another dark story I keep in the shadows that later threatens to take me down. If I’m going to move forward, if I want to have any shot of learning to one day be a good captain, I need to face this. Face him. All I’m asking if to sit there for a few minutes in front of him. Forcefield up. You can be there along with the brig detail. I probably won’t even say anything. But this is something I have to do.”
