Sleep had been mostly good, and there had been some pleasant dreams. Though if Faye were honest they had been balanced by some slightly confusing and equally disturbing ones. But at least in the morning she felt somewhat rested despite the later hour she had been up.

Showered and dressed in her usual duty uniform, Faye finished securing her french braid with an elastic and studied her appearance. Well, she looked tired, but then again she had just laid down some trauma she’d been holding on to for twenty some-odd years. She was feeling lighter though and even at the bare hint of a thought of Daggum, she smiled. Good Gods everyone was going to think something was wrong with her! Think serious, she told herself as she looked in the mirror. A slight scowl returned to her face, but lasted all of a second before she couldn’t help but smile again.

“Ah Hell, I’m screwed,” she said as she grabbed her jacket and zipped it up.

Leaving her quarters, she made her way to the ready room and pressed the chime. 0858.

Stepping in, oh Faye tried hard to keep a straight face. But not only did Alex know her to well, she couldn’t help but broadcast the lightness that was creeping in minute by minute. She hadn’t even said anything and she slapped her mouth with a closed fist as she looked over at the golden Ox. “I’m in so much trouble,” she said softly as she dropped her hand and shifted her gaze back to Alex. Of course, even without the stupid smile on her face. It was there in her eyes. “Whatever will I do when they’re not calling me Crabby Calloway, or Creepy Calloway behind my back?”

Alex looked at her and simply said “So I take it the call went… well.” flatly. He indicated a chair and stood and went to the replicator and got two cups of strong coffee and set them on the desk and sat back down. Picking up his cup, he smiled slightly over the rim of the cup.

Faye took a seat and accepted the coffee gratefully. She nodded a tiny bit before taking a generous sip of the hot drink.

“Do tell.”

Cochrane, CO

Setting the mug down in front of her, Faye wrapped her hands around it, the heat soaking through her skin. It was almost uncomfortable and yet it helped her focus. She looked up to meet Alex’s gaze. After you left, I opened the rest of his gift. There was type of special mushroom spore that he gave specifically to me. They glow Alex. He wanted me to grow them, to bring more light into my world and help me hold on to the beauty of the universe.” She grinned. “You know I love a good poet.”

“Oh, I’m aware.” he said and smiled at the thought of his mother.

“Anyway, I called him and told him my story. And that was hard for both of us, especially when I had to explain that her reminded me of Kodell. And then he asked me why.” She rolled her lower lip through her teeth. “I told him it’s because I was pretty sure I was in love with him the way I was with Kodell.” At this point her eyes misted. “And it’s mutual. He loves me.” She blew out a breath and picked up her coffee to take a sip.

Alex nodded and said “Faye… for being the smartest person I know you are certainly dense sometimes. The man sent you a house and glow in the dark mushrooms across the galaxy… just because he knew you would like them. Of course he loves you. That was obvious.” and he laughed. “But how are you feeling? How does that knowledge sit with you?”
