Her blue tinged grey eyes took him in over the top of her glass as she sipped. “Pasta works for me,” she said nonchalantly. “Besides, I thought it was very obvious that I’m dessert. Or is it you?” She shrugged. “Who knows really.”

“Could be both. Simultaneously, even.” Micah said and shrugged in return. He tried to to take a sip, but the laugh he was holding back came through and he had to move the wine or risk spilling. “Good lord, lady… you are amazing, you know that?”

Mirth in her eyes, Shara just replied, “I do,” with all the assuredness of someone who was comfortable with who they were, comfortable in their skin.

There was a chime at the door and Micah said “I got it.” and stood up, stopping long enough to taste the wine on her lips. Opening the door, a Deltan in kitchen attire wheeled in a cart on which sat two silver dome -covered dishes. “With the Captain’s compliments.” she said and reached under the white linen cover and pulled out a dark green bottle seemingly carved from stone. She set it on the table and left the room.

At that remark, Calloway arched her brows, her lips still tingling from his kiss. So much for skirting under the radar. Oh well. Faye already knew, what did it matter if Cochrane did as well?

Micah looked at the bottle and said “Sunofa… Vulcan brandy. I always liked that boy’s Momma.”

“Mmm, save that for after for sure,” Shara said. “I suppose there are benefits to calling in a favour or two, though somehow I doubt very much that one was required at all.”

Micah smiled at the bottle and then at Shara. “You know who his mom is? Well, his step-mom, anyways? His real mom is a complete bitch. And I can say that from experience.” His words were almost acidic but he recovered and smiled. “Sorry.” and he set the bottle aside with a degree of gentleness.

Rising in a fluid motion born entirely of core strength, Shara all but sauntered over to the table and eyed the cart. “I’m assuming we’re eating at the table, though I’ve never been a traditional girl, so what do I know?” Ahhh, all the banter was so much fun! It certainly had been awhile.

“My dear… I would never in a million years ask you to eat somewhere so pedestrian as the sofa. This is a high-class seduction, I’ll have you know. So of course we eat at the table. If we didn’t, it’d lose the impact of me brushing all the dishes off the damn thing to have my way with ya on it.” and he grinned and gave her a wink that said that was a definite possibility.
