SNIP

Pretha had been in Security when the red alert sounded. As the explosion rocked the ship she growled and grabbed phaser and scanner and took off towards the hanger as the Captain’s call for security and medical rose on the comms. =^=Captain, Pretha here. Heading to transporter room one with team. Will report as soon as we have something.=^= She reported as she jogged down the corridors towards her destination.

As she arrived in the transporter room, she glanced to the Chief behind the console. “Search for survivors, Chief. Let’s get them out of there and into safety asap. Medical should be here any moment.” She wasn’t sure how many to expect, but she tapped out her command to the CRIT team to meet her in transporter room one and be prepared for anything. This was going to be a test to them all. No more drills or sims, this was the time to see how they could, together, keep the Manny on her wings.

The counselor was in session with an engineering officer when Oberon’s message came through. This would be her first action with the CRIT team. “I’m very sorry, Ens Morgan, but I’ve been called to assist in an emergency. Yeoman Brooks will reschedule our meeting for sometime in the next few days.” Surprised, Morgan nodded and got up to leave.

Zef wasn’t far behind him, hurrying through the outer office. “Reschedule his appointment. I’m off to transporter room 1 for a mission with the CRIT team.”

With no chance to ask questions, Dave simply nodded. “Yes, Cmdr Rollo.” And she was out the door. A few moments later Zef entered the transporter room. She’d stopped by security to get a hand phaser and it was resting on her hip in its holster.

Luke had been in his quarters when the red alert sounded, the hardest thing about his job was not always being needed on the bridge or anywhere for that matter with importance during a good old scrap. That said and mostly due to his annoyance and being bothered had him up and out into the corridor. Of course, that meant technically he was breaking the regulations, during red alert, those should be manning their station or non-essential somewhere safe but Luke was Luke. He had changed, but not that much. He was heading in the opposite direction to Zef when she passed him, notably, she was in a hurry. He couldn’t understand where she’d be going but then in the back of his mind he remembered she was part of the CRiT team. Doing a U-turn Luke followed, maybe there was something he could be doing after all.

Deep in engineering, Kaia was working on a console, solving some complex equations when the call came. Her face lit up and she shut the program she’d been working on and grabbed her tool-belt. “CRIT calls, chief,” she shouted to the CE as she clambered into a Jeffries-tube, knowing a short-cut to the nearest Turbolift that only her small frame could navigate.

It was only moments after Zef entered the transporter room that Kaia entered - one of the panels in the wall sliding to the side to allow her to jump out of the crawlspace. She quickly replaced the panel and stood beside Rollo, quickly straightening her uniform shirt and checking to make sure her engineering tools were intact. “Our first real field-test, I’m so excited!” She exclaimed eagerly.

Kaia, Engineer

Zef smiled at the engineer. “Me too, but don’t tell anyone.” She said conspiratorially.

“Could you use an extra body?” Luke spoke up standing in the doorway, he’d not be disappointed if they said no he’d only end up finding another way to help but after all he was trained and cleared for the field and he hoped that would win him over some points. Being the ex-chief of security no matter how bad it went still mean he had the qualifications, and before he didn’t think he’d have time for the specialised team but with his new assignment it might just be the thing he needed.

She didn’t notice Luke as they passed in the corridor, her mind already on what the CRIT team might be facing, but when he walked into the transporter room, her brows raised in surprise. She knew he was back on the Manny in a different capacity than before, but he hadn’t been to see her yet so this was her first look at him.

“Luke…I didn’t know you were on the CRIT team…”

—Rollo, CNS

Seeing Luke made Kaia brighten up even more. She’d enjoyed her conversations with the man and his daughter, and had been sad to see them leave. “Luke, you’re back!” The engineer exclaimed joyfully, forgetting for a moment that they were in a crisis situation.

The Transporter operator’s head swiveled every time someone came in. His name was Porter, with short blond hair that ended in a slight curl at the bangs. Between that and his blue eyes marking him as perhaps of Germanic descent his first name was Hans. “I have scattered signals. Mostly single all over,” he replied. “Taking them two at a time with the multiple regions. He worked the controls with practiced motions. The first two Kazon materialized. Both were in a sitting position. One held a wicked looking hand weapon in a hand that shook and eyes that were wide. The second did not have a weapon; his left arm was bent at an unnatural angle which he cradled with the other.

Kaia looked at the Kazon, then over at Pretha. “Uh, you never filled us in on what was actually going on. So, what’s happening?”

Kaia, Engineer

Zef also looked at Pretha. She’d been of the idea that the team would beam somewhere else, not be gathered there to greet incoming combatants. “Yes, Lt. Exactly what are our orders?”

—Rollo, CNS

Luke was equally confused, that and he was still waiting for the green light to assist the CRiT team. Regardless if he was suddenly called into action to help others he wouldn’t need permission, for now however he was happy to wait her decision.

OOC: Interesting responses ..
IC:
There was a loud crack as the weapon fired from the Kazon. It punched a hole into the side bulkhead eliciting a flickering of a panel beside that. The Kazon looked as surprised that he had fired perhaps as much as the crew. He looked almost more fearful now. “You are not Trabe,” he said with the word Trabe almost spitting out, but the questioning of his tone was there.

Hans shook his head. “Not an energy weapon. Could not deactivate ..” but this report was likely lost in the ensuing talk.

Pretha’s own weapon came out as the other fired. “EASY THERE!” She quickly glanced at Hans. “Any way you can remove whatever is they are holding or clinging to when they materialize? Maybe set it in security or at least over there?” She laughed, but it was a nervous sound. She wasn’t sure the split transporting was possible, but she had to ask, even if just to break the tension. Looking back at the others, she smiled and nodded to the transporter pad. “There is a battle happening, or did happen. And we are collecting the survivors. She nodded to Luke, smiling. “Welcome to CRIT 101,” she laughed and nodded to Kaia. “Ok, you get these two into the hall, medical and security are standing by. Zef, you take the next two. We need to reassure them they are safe. And we need to be sure no more weapons are around. Make sure security is aware of the possibility of weapons.”

Looking at Luke, she nodded, “You are with me. I want to be sure we have an accurate count of those coming in and keep track of all weapons and possessions they are holding. Use the storage lockers over there for now. Make sure everything goes in there and we will inventory later.” Looking at the two on the dais, she tried to be calm. “I am Lieutenant Oberon and you are safe on the USS Manhattan. We are going to get you to sick bay and try and find more of your crewmates. Do you understand?” She asked not because of language barrier, so much, as shock. Reaching out her hand, she tried to silently ask for the weapon. Though her own hand wasn’t on hers, it was close enough to grab in a moment if needed. As well as her positioning to roll if they felt threatened and the weapon point came up towards her. “You are safe.”

CRIT Ldr
((great entrances, all of you. Glad you remembered the crawl spaces Kaia, nice use for expediency. Now we just do what we need to keep them safe and see where life takes us lol))

Kaia stepped over to the Kazon and held out her hand. “If you could give me your weapon and follow me out into the hallway, we’ll get you two some medical aid,” Kaia spoke, giving the taller beings a firm look. She wasn’t used to dealing with aliens, but she knew a few tricks. “You’re safe now, on the Manhattan.”

Kaia, Eng/CRIT

bump?

Luke had silently acknowledged her orders and set about doing what Pretha had asked him. Firstly he opened the storage locked and saw that it was empty, good start he guessed placing the weapons the Kazon had brought aboard and had since been disarmed, he closed the locker for now figuring it was best that if things did get out of hand having an exposed locker wasn’t a good idea. He found himself next to Oberon again and waited.
