Shortly after boarding the Manhattan T’Lara made her way to Sickbay to partake in her mandatory boarding physical which was mandated by Starfleet for every new crew member, she had that regulation memorized along with having a familiarity with all of the others. She had already studied the design of the ship and committed the various decks along with their layouts to memory during the extensive duration of time she had waited for the Manhattan to finally dock. The light glistened off of her brunette hair that was tied neatly in a bun as she walked to her destination. She was wearing her standard duty uniform with gold color on shoulders indicating that she was in Security along with one and a half pips on her collar. She had recently been promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade and the new Chief of Security. T’Lara looked forward to the opportunity to learn, progress, and grow in her Starfleet career.

T’Lara arrived at sickbay and reported to the nurse. Their interaction was short and to the point as it should be for T’Lara as she had no need to talk about irrelevant topics. She was led to one of the biobeds and sat down. While patiently waiting for the Chief Medical officer to arrive for her appointment she took a look around sickbay. It was neat, sterile, and on point. Her facial expression was neutral as was typical of her species, devoid of emotion. After a few moments, she heard talking and she turned her head to see who was approaching. Her green her eyes scanned the Doctor approaching her biobed and immediately recognized them as being the Chief Medical officer. She had reviewed the senior staff intensively prior to her arrival, just as a Security officer should do. It was pivotal that she always kept tabs on the crew and a watchful eye to help ensure that she was performing optimally.

Jasmine looked at her PaDD as she walked with her best friend. Part of her was happy to have an eval come into sickbay. She had zero issues with talking and helping out with Celina’s upcoming nuptials except for one aspect which of course Celina had spent the last hour trying to convince Jasmine was a good idea. “Lina I am sorry. I agree with Jack,” Jasmine wrinkled her nose up at Celina. “Those dolls are creepy as hell. Not being mean but pinning credits to a dress that matches your, sitting at the wedding table has a.....stripper type vibe to it.” The shocked look on Celina’s face made Jasmine hold up her hands as if giving up. It also signaled that she was comfortable with her decision and wasn’t going to change it.

“Ugh....is Jack calling them stripper dolls again? They are called La Muneca and you don’t just pin money to it like they are an Orion stripper raking in money on a Saturday night. During the reception, he and I greet each person and hand them one of the souvenirs made by cousins to thank them for coming to the wedding. It is up to the guest if they pin the souvenir back to the doll as a goodwill wish.” Celina grabbed Jasmine’s arm and pulled her to a stop. “Yes some people pin money and the souvenir back on the doll but the purpose for the credits was to give the couple a head start in life.”

“You don’t need a head start. Jack’s the XO. His family runs an R &D lab. You don’t need the money. Lose the dolls,” Jasmine said in a serious tone. Of all the traditions of a Puerto Rican wedding, why did Celina need to incorporate that element.

“It’s not about money or a head start. It’s tradition. It’s culture,” she waved her hands about using fluid motions trying to impart a calmness and inviting feeling to the conversation.

Jasmine looked over at the biobed seeing the patient sitting on the edge waiting for her. “Celina I got to get back to work. You trust my advice so take my advice. Lose the dolls. They are creepy but don’t,” she leveled a finger at Celina, “tell Jack I am agreeing with him. I am still annoyed that he was throwing that rubber band ball at me.” Turning around she began to walk to the biobed but not before yelling out one more time, “Lose the dolls, Celina.”

Approaching the biobed, Jasmine greeted the patient with a smile. “Lt. T’Lara…welcome aboard the Manhattan. I assume you are here for the check-in,” she asked bring up the officer’s medical file on her Padd.

T’Lara looked up from her biobed to meet Jasmine’s gaze. She appeared to be calm, cool, and collected as she had patiently waited for the Doctor to arrive for her boarding physical. In response, T’Lara nodded in kind, “Thank you Doctor and affirmative, I am here in sickbay for my boarding physical. I provided the nurse with all of the medical information that Starfleet Medical mandates. I do not anticipate any set backs from this appointment, but look forward to your feedback and analysis on the status of my health.” T’Lara tilted her head slightly and was now prepared to follow the physicians instructions going forward.

“Good because I hate set backs,” she laughed. Picking up the PaDD Jasmine reviewed the information. Everything looked in order as T’Lara stated. Picking up a tricorder she scanned the officer and waited for the results.
