Kaia skipped happily along the hallway, excited for her Holodeck adventure. She’d found an adventure holo-adventure about traveling in the jungle and searching for treasure. She was a few chapters in and she was looking forward to further exploring her adventure. She was dressed appropriately in adventuring garb, with plans to get the program to simulate the majority of her equipment. Latest in her adventure, the protagonist and their party had survived a rushing river and waterfall. It was very exciting.

T’Lara walked briskly down the corridor as she headed towards the holodeck. She finally had some off time to herself and planned to mediate in a peaceful setting to rejuvenate her mind. She eventually reached the holodeck, but noticed another woman approaching on the opposite end of the corridor. This caused her to pause for a moment to acknowledge the approaching Ensign. T’Lara hoped that the computer did not accidentally duplicate holodeck appointment times and that the woman was just passing on through the area. However, the probability of that was minimal and she anticipated an awkward social interaction was inevitable at this point sighing just to the thought of the upcoming situation.

Kaia looked up at the Vulcan woman, her ears pulling back a little with confusion as they both glanced at the door at the same time. “Uh, hi there,” she spoke, smiling cheerfully. “I’m Kaia,” she bowed her head slightly. Kaia was an absolutely tiny person. At three feet tall, her size was similar to that of a human child. This was only made possible by the fact that she was not a humanoid, but was instead a felinoid alien.

Kaia scratched her nose, then smiled again. “Ah, I’m here for a holodeck adventure in Holodeck 2. You?”

T’Lara looked downwards in her best attempt to meet Kaia’s gaze since her diminutive form was about as high as her belt buckle. She listened to Kaia’s introduction and in response unclipped her PaDD off of her belt as she made an effort to verify her holodeck appointment time. Perhaps she had made a mistake, but this was highly doubtful in this case as she booked this exact time once every week for the next consecutive 52 weeks. After careful review, the screen confirmed that her appointment was scheduled for 19:00 in Holodeck 2. As politely as possible, she turned her PaDD so that Kaia could read the screen to verify that she was there at her appointment time. She kept her tone soft as she replied, “I am Lieutenant T’Lara and I booked an appointment in advance already here in holodeck 2.” T’Lara did her best to appear sympathetic, “When was your appointment scheduled?” She quirked a brow in curiosity to see if there was a computer error. However, this was typically doubtful, but not at all improbable, “Although it is improbable, perhaps the computer made an error in schedule times and booked the two of us at identical times.” T’Lara sighed softly hoping that it was not the case. She enjoyed engaging with members of the crew in social situations, it was nice for her to enhance her understanding about various species cultures, but she definitely preferred to be left in solitude during her holodeck appointments.

Kaia lifted her arm and tapped on the small compact bracelet, bringing up a holographic display written in a text language that T’Lara probably wouldn’t recognize. She scrolled through a few menus, finding the calendar that showed her booking of the time slot. She turned the screen towards T’Lara, then paused and realized that it wasn’t in english. Or any other language the Vulcan was likely to understand. With a few swipes it was fixed. She spoke in a bright and cheerful but also slightly confused tone as she turned the screen towards T’Lara again. “Here you go. Ens. Kaia booked for 1900 hours on Holodeck 2. I booked it about a month ago, four weeks in a row. Today is the last Holodeck Time before I chose a new time slot for next month.”
