“Make it work? Ha. Honey… it does work. And no matter the distance, the time, the crap that is going on her or there or anywhere… it will always work. Because I love you more than any obstacle Fate throws at us.” and he smiled at her. “You are my life, Faye… and nothing is ever going to change that. You are my center… so everything I do or have comes from you. Got that?” he asked as he brushed her cheek with his finger.

That tiny, annoying voice that often arose, whispered in the back of her mind, repeating the lies she had at least more recently begun to feel more certain were untrue. She brushed hem to the side, doing the exercise that had been a part of her therapy for years now Your protection is noted, but your input is not needed now, * she thought before allowed her attention to shift back to Dag. “I’ve never been that for anyone before so its… overwhelming. But I love you more than I thought possible.” She exhaled and then grinned. “I look forward to getting married though. How’s that* for a surprise,” she said with a laugh. “I look forward to standing hand in hand, with people who care about us surrounding us with love. I can’t think of a more perfect start to a life together. So… I guess we just need to be patient. Soon, Dag, soon…”

“Listen… I know right now sucks. But trust me… Im the logistics guy, remember? In about 20 standard weeks you and I are gonna be looking around at half-cometed this and misplaced that and arguing with florists and caterers about little things we don’t even realize yet… and we are going to look at right now and say -Remeber when we were leaving the station and felt like it was soooo long till now? And right now we need another three weeks?’ and we will laugh. I promise. Because thats how long we have, Faye… 24 weeks. Then we are getting married. And 24 weeks is not a long time. Which is probably good… I don’t want you to have time enough to change your mind about me being your husband.” and he smiled.

With a playful swat to his arm, Faye pressed herself against him. “Perish the thought. I thought one of my more charming attributes was my sheer force of will and stubbornness. You don’t have to worry about me changing the flight plan now, Dag,” she said, before scrunching her face up in distaste. “Okay, maybe a slightly errible metaphor, but you get that idea.”
