Alex laughed and said “Yeah… thats fitting. Wonder who Hammor will have as his best man? Hmmm… maybe your new dad?” and he shot a grin at Faye.

Alex

Faye snorted. “I would not put it past him, but he has a really close friend that’s coming and I suspect it’ll be him. I’ve not met or talked to him before, but from what Dag has said, I think he’ll be the one at his side.”

Blowing out a breath, she looked around the greenhouse, at the space where small things were nurtured, both with plants and people. Shifting her gaze back to Alex, Faye nodded. “The seedlings will be fine. Jus keep a watchful eye on them and when the roots have filled up the cells, then they’ll be ready to transplant. We got time yet though. But I’m going to go call Gavin, and you’re more than welcome to be a fly on the wall or sit it out. Your choice. But Alex? I am sorry about Zef. You deserve love too. It wil come,” she said, her voice quiet and sure.

Alex looked at her for a long moment and then shrugged slightly. “If it does, it does. But I’m not going to waste any more of my time dwelling on it. And for that, I have you to thank.” and he smiled. “C’mon… let’s go see this uncle of yours, shall we?”

Alex

Faye blew out a breath and grinned. “Cue awkward conversation I never expected to be having number two. Or is it three? Or four?” She shrugged, somewhat amused as she tidied up the last of their supplies, leaving the greenhouse in good order for the next eager gardener.

Wandering back through the garden towards the exit, Calloway burst into laughter. “I pity the poor counsellor who boards next and has to read through my file. That is going to be an interesting conversation…”

~Faye

Alex smirked slightly and said “I pity the Counselor who has to have you and Big Green in for marriage counseling.” and he laughed as they exited the garden. “Ok, lead on. You calling from your quarters or from your lab?”

Alex

Faye snorted as she stepped through the large double doors and into the corridor. “Quarters. Tess will be pissed off I do that without her there, like she would know the instant I stepped in later.” She cast a sideways glance at Alex. “I swear they lied to me and she’s actually telepathic, not empathic and she knows,” Faye said nodding empathically before grinning. “Annoying as it is sometimes, I’m really grateful for her. I never thought I’d be a cat person but here we are,” she added with a laugh.

A few minutes later, Faye unlocked her quarters with a mindless tap of the keypad, the door swishing open to admit them.

Tess jumped off the new cat tree which served as a perch, scratching post and bed in one, chirping at Faye and Alex. Faye scooped her up and scratched behind her ears. A part of her intellectually had understood that getting an empathic animal was somehow allowed a deeper bond to be formed than usual, but it was hard to explain how bonded the two were now. Tess didn’t freak out over each and every flicker of emotions now that she understood Faye’s moods better, but she was constantly watchful and always there- a reassuring presence that was hard to articulate just how lovely it was.

“We’re going to call Uncle Gavin now. Prepare yourself Tess, this could possibly get bumpy.” For her part, Tess just looked at Alex and then back at Faye, then Alex again, as if to ask ‘now what are you doing you silly person?

“Grab a chair,” Faye told Alex as she began tapping keys to put in the call to the Alpha Quadrant, a feat that took a small amount of time on most days.

~Faye

Alex took a seat in a spot where he would hear clearly but not be on video. “If you run into any trouble getting ahold of him, let me know. Four pips means I get answered.” and he chuckled.
