“Not at all. Faye I come from a clan that is stepped so much in our traditions and community. Weddings are…a week long party. Those things are important. So, not limiting here, but if I had to pick only one thing out of all our traditions to have at my wedding, it would be my vows and how they are delivered. So if you could pick one thing from the weddings you remember on Traken that you want, what is it? Then you can add around that or take away or alter. What was it that conveyed that love?”

For a moment Faye closed her eyes, letting the memories flit to the surface. It was hard. Tracken evoked such strong negative memories that she struggled when it came time to pull the happy ones. They were so enmeshed that she couldn’t fully extract them unharmed. But even the glimpses she still had showed her community gathered in a loving circle with the officiant and the couple in the middle. “The circle,” she said, returning her gaze to the present. “Everyone stood around the couple as they made their vows and at the dinner too, the dance floor centered the space and we all sat in tables in one giant circle, connected.” She beamed. “I want that,” Faye breathed.

Revna grinned, “Done, you shall have it. Now what about you and Dag? Is there something you two have done together, once or a dozen times, small or big, that you want to repeat? That you want it to carry from each stage to the next that always will be you and him?”

Tapping her index finger on the workbench, Faye frowned. “I’m not sure. We’ve not spent a significant amount of time doing things”-at this, Faye smirked but let that racy thought be filtered and not spoke-“and our dates have been these grand things.” She thought about the mushroom house, relief flooding her body. “I think I’d like to have him carve me, or design a lasered carving of us and our life story. He did sort of a hidden one in the mushroom house and it would be interesting to have a series of them depicting each stage in our lives together,” she said, her teeth drawing her lower lip inward as she pondered the merits of that idea.

Revna just smirked right along with Faye. She was pretty sure she knew how that went, it had been the same with Mike. “If you tell Daggum I’m sure he’ll make them. Perhaps together you could choose which events you want depicted. Maybe even make one together?” Revna thought a moment, of how to make the lasered carving a part of the ceremony. “What about letting your guests add a design to an etching. Something that they feel represents the two of you, or a symbol representing something they wish for you? Laser carving is difficult, but it could be done with a computer design and a replicator instead. And then you and Dag can make one together, after, to remember your wedding day?” Revna shrugged gently with a small smile, “Ooorrr that might be a horrible idea.”

“it’s not a bad idea,” Faye said quietly. “Something to mull over in any case, just like everything else.”

She kept working at the small seed starters, her fingers dirt from practically playing in the soil. “Music seemed to be very important to you and your mother. Is there anything specific you would want music wise? A song, an experience?”

She shrugged. “I don’t know. There has to be dancing, for sure, but music is more the accompaniment to social gatherings for me, rather than the focus,” Faye said as she began to tidy up the supplies they were now done with. “I do like the idea of the first dance though, except I hate being the focus of people’s attention.” her gaze flicked to Revna. “Awkward for a wedding, right?”

~Faye Calloway

“Nope not all,” Revna chirped. She cleaned up the tools she was using and began to set the trays on the racks. “A first dance, well dancing really, is a very personal, intimate, thing between two people. Why not keep it private? You and Dag could go to the spot you showed me earlier, away from everyone else and make it a moment just for you both. The music can be piped from anywhere to anywhere. It’s your wedding don’t worry about other’s expectations. I wouldn’t want to dance in front of all those people either, I would probably end up trying to find my way out unnoticed. Of course if Mike knew that he’d probably drag me kicking and screaming onto the largest dance floor he could find with a spotlight. Just to prove it was still just us among the masses. But then he knows how to work a crowd,” Revna grinned the idea of Mike’s antics more than making her happy. “But that’s enough wedding planning today. You have a set amount of time, but you don’t need to rush. Unless you want to keep talking and planning of course.” Revna was aware that Faye was concerned about becoming overwhelmed and having issues with her BPD. She didn’t want to over or under do it. Faye was a strong enough person to say she’d had enough, Revna just wanted to be respectful. She was enjoying talking to Faye, she missed ‘girl talk’ and Runa.
