Alex smiled. “She is. She’s a Commander in the Fleet Science Command. Her, my dad, my step-mother… we’re all very close. I have an older brother as well. He is an Engineer. Well known. We aren’t as close… he is five years older so we were never really ‘together’ in school or anything. But we still talk and stay up to date on what all of us are up to. But Racheal and I are and always have been close. We entered the Academy at the same time, graduated in the same class, lived in the same dorm. We’ve always been close and distance doesn’t really effect that.”

She wasn’t sure entirely why, but that prompted her grin to shift into something warmer. “I’m glad you have a good support network. What about on the ship? You mentioned Lieutenant Calloway was a friend. Do you feel you have a good support network amongst the crew?” Was it a trick question? Not really. But his answer would tell her more about him and how he viewed himself as a Captain.

His answer was direct, simple, and sincere. “I am here to give everything for this crew, and I know without a doubt they would do the same for me. All for one and one for all… as they say.”

Her smile touched her eyes and Sair nodded. “I’m glad for that,”she said. “And I look forward to being a part of that as well. I know I’m an outsider and that will colour some of how my interactions will go with some of the crew, but know that my door is always open to you. I’m just a call away.”

Cochrane inclined his head and smiled slightly. “The same goes for you, Counselor. You are part of the crew, so I am at your disposal as you need. Never be hesitatnt to call on me if needed.”
