Sair shook her head. “Not so much. It was a bit rough in the post-partum period, just with my fluctuating hormones and how it affects the uptake of dueridium in my cells. But six months ago I noticed that it had drastically stabilized and it’s been good since!” She grinned. “I don’t like bragging about my Super-Celler status back around my people, but between you and me, I’m super grateful because it means I don’t have to worry about this nonsense as often. And so yes, I’m not partial to who administers my doses. I’m due in about a Standard week, so we can make a plan to have an intro session then. In the meantime, I will just ask that access to my supply is limited. the less risk of accidental tampering, the better.”

The scans of Sair showed she was healthy and her cell structures (with the help of the dueridium in her system) were stable. There were some signs of fatigue, but given the travelling, it wasn’t abnormal.

“Well you are fit as a fiddle despite some residual fatigue but that is to be expected. I mean who gets any sleep when you are traveling huh,” Jasmine chatted away writing down random readings on the PaDD. Looking up she bit her lip for a second. “What if we make the code for your supplies your birthday? I mean it’s not like it’s classified but its easy enough for someone to find in the case of an absolute emergency? I will get the medical staff together if you want to do a training for them.” Setting the PaDD down Jasmine leaned against the bed behind her. “So you have a baby,” she said with a smile. “What’s the little Song bird’s name?”

Her face broke into beaming smile. “Koro. He’s two and very curious.” Sair inhaled, held her breath and let it out audibly. “He’s with my parents right now and they’ll be bringing him soon. But I’ve never been away from him. It’s so hard. I know from talking to others that they have a hard time being away from their children for long durations too, but he’s the child I didn’t think I could have and am still surprised every day that it happened,” she said with a light laugh.

“So is the father coming or is he holding the fort down back home,” Jasmine asked. Songz would not be the first single parent Jasmine had met still if there was a second parent in the picture, she should know about it unless there was some legal reason for her not to.

For some reason the question surprised Sair and it took her a moment to get her wits about her. “Uh, no father, just me,” she said, smiling. “I used an anonymous donor. You know how the work can be. Just go, go, go. I myself never had the time for proper relationships,” she said with a shrug., tapping her fingers slightly on her thigh. She missed Koro and couldn’t wait till he was here, but when her parents left it would be the first time since she found out she was pregnant again that she would be doing this predominantly on her own. She already knew she had underestimated how much support her parents had lent her, and it was going to be a process on this ship of figuring what she could and couldn’t reasonably ask for. She would just have to be patient, especially with herself.

Jasmine smiled at the woman. She and Max had talked about kids and probably were not as careful as they should be but having a baby on your own was brave and exciting. There was no reason someone needed a partner to love and care for a child. Why Sair had went that route was her business. Jasmine just liked kids and knowing one would be around soon made her happy. “Well I think we are all done here,” she noticed Sair tapping her thigh. “You are fit as a fiddle so unless you have anything to add its the Welcome to the Manhattan part of this check in,” she signed the PaDD.

Sair offered a grateful smile in return. “Thank you, nothing to add. I appreciate your foresight with my treatments and that certainly eases my mind about that piece of this transition. “I’ll bring Koro by when he gets here, so that he can get used to everyone here. It’ll help in case he ever needs to be looked over if Sickbay is a somewhat familiar place,” she said as she slid off the bio bed.

“Sounds perfect,” Jasmine said. She really liked the new counselor. The woman seemed less lay on the bed and tell me what you do want any to know or I am not signing off on the paperwork and more come by and have a cup of coffee and just chat. Said Songz was going to be a great asset to the Manhattan.
