There came a reply to the hail. A visual came up on the screen. The bridge looked as clunky as the rest of the ship on the outside with more levers, dials and buttons than anything that smacked of touch displays. A flickering light off to the side illuminated a cramped bridge that was in need of a cleaning. One person could be seen in front of an angled console. There was familiarity and then there was not.

The person was evidently a Kazon, with deep complexion and hair that branched out like a fungus growth. The similarity ended there. His dress was that of a multi-colored frock with pronounced shoulders and of glistening, metallic hues. One hand moved on the console and turned a dial. It could be seen to have several rings on the fingers. His facial features were smoother, softer edged and the edges of his hair had small metallic ribbon/beads of the same color as his frock. His eyebrows were braided and one cheek bore a kind of fine metallic dust that glistened in the flickering light.

He peered into the screen as though trying to place you. =^= What manner of beings are you? =^= he asked with some .. wonder and tinged with uncertainty. =^= Be you from the Outer Colonies? =^=
- Freighter

Cochrane thought quickly and then said “No… we are not from the Outer Colonies. We are explorers, and we have seemed to have lost our way. Please, can you tell us where we are… and what the current stardate is? We were pulled through some kind of anomaly and wound up here.”

“I am Zerul of Kazon and the date is the 3,603rd year of the Emperor Marakis, may he live forever.” His expression was curious but guarded. “But you are here at the behest of the Hegemony, right?”

What he said wasn’t entirely lying. The wormhole between the Alpha and Delta quadrants was a n anomaly of sorts. And they really didn’t know exactly what was going on. But temporal directives were not flexible here: No information of the future could be given.

Cochrane, CO

Kazon…was it possible that there were tribes of the Kazon who were not aware of the Federation at this point? Probably not, and all other evidence seemed to point, with what little information they had, that they were not in the same place in time.

Looking at the ship’s interior, Max pursed his lips slightly and began a passive scan of what his sensors could detect. He was looking to see if the ship had a Warp capability, it clearly had impulse but he wanted to see if it was primitive in technology or just design.

Max Wynter, CE

The freighter was warp capable, probably cracking Warp 4 but not too much more than that. It could be gauged at around 80 standard years old and looked like it was kept together with chewing gum and baling wire; while it was operational it was not something Max would want to go drag racing in.

There was another comms ping like the last one. It sounded on the tactical station on the bridge as well as on Zerul’s ship. There it sounded like a short claxon that rang for some seconds. Zerul frowned and looked at the comms, looking puzzled.

Shedda turned to look at the tactical station to see if they had had any luck with making sense of those pings, it seemed to confuse their friend on the other side of the screen as well.

Mal’athar, XO

Best guess by the computer was that it was an automated ping, probably an identifier, perhaps a request for information.

Zerul could be seen pressing a button and shifting a small lever.

Revna doubted she could access the Federation database off the ship, but being the flag ship in the Delta she rarely needed to for further information. Manhattan had a large enough computer to hold all the information that was gleaned from diplomatic/scientific/and other types of enquires by the Ambassador and Star Fleet. Tapping into her PaDD quickly she quired for references to Zerul of Kazon, how their calendar system reconciled to theirs (trying to figure out what 3,603rd year of the Emperor Marakis translated) references to Emperor Marakis, and finally references to the Hegemony.

McKenzie, DA

The only reference to a Zerul of Kazon referred to a minor chieftain of a sub-family within the Kazon-Halik clan. Records showed that he perished in a ‘Battle of Palomar’ nine years back. The image that they had of Zerul was identical to the Zerul here, if a touch older here and vastly different in dress and deportment. The Zerul in the database was much fiercer showing a nasty scar along the jawline. There was, alas, no reference to a Marakis or Crimson Hegemony anywhere.

While the Captain was talking to the Kazon, Walker went about triangulating the source of the energy wave. It was not much, but the wave was dissipating so quickly, it was as much as he could get.

The computer projected the source of the energy wave to be on the far side of the sector. Bringing up a small map on the corner of the viewscreen, Walker highlighted the coordinates the computer was giving them.

It was a small system. Four planets logged. Star an uninteresting medium sized orange star. Uncharted. It only had a name of Maril thanks to the addition of star charts to their database by local races but nothing much more. Someone had tagged it with a descriptor of ‘mostly harmless’.

Zerul answered the other part of their question, if rather uncertainly. =^= You are around the system of the Yelethites. The Great Emperor Marakis, may he live forever, destroyed it in the Yeleth Rebellion a century ago, laid waste to their homeworld, destroyed their shipyards and mines and their star as an example to any other worlds who would dare to rebel. =^= He appeared more nervous, and the ship could be seen to be adjusting course away from the system, still at impulse, not that that would interfere with any comms mind you.

Wookiee for Zerul

=/\= I see. Could you please tell me, Zerul, if there are any facilities nearby that would allow us to dock for repairs? We have trade items as well, and would be happy to offer trade in exchange for information. =/\= Cochrane said formally. Having dealt with the Kazon on multiple occasions since his arrival in the Quadrant, he knew that trade was a language the Kazon were quite fond of. He muted the comms and looked at McKenzie. “Mrs. McKenzie, prepare a diplomatic trade pouch, won’t you? Nothing tech-based until we figure out when we are.”

Cochrane, CO

Revna added a quick search for Yelethites to her current search and added it to the other information she was sending to Cochrane and Mal’athar’s consoles. After a quick tap of her PaDD Revna nodded, “Of course, Cpt. On your console you’ll find what I have in the diplomatic database on the information Zerul has given us so far. It’s not much unfortunately.” She turned toward a turbolift and her office. It would take a bit of time to wipe the tech based info from the standard pouch.

McKenzie, DA

They destroyed a star? “It could be possible that whatever weapon this Emperor Marakis used to destroy the star had a temporal effect.” Also possible that someone out of time gave this Marakis a weapon and altered time. Maybe that is what ‘helped’ the star change so drastically.

Mal’athar, XO

“It sure is a better theory then what we have otherwise,” Walker said from where he stood. “Captain, we weren’t able to get much information on the wave, but the computer was able to triangulate the origin point, which I’ve put on the screen.”
