“Of course. That’s one thing you and I have in common, Counselor. The core part of our job is to listen.” and he smiled at her, ice blue eyes sparkling. “And I really do hope we get to meet your son soon. I meant it when I said I think he would make a fine addition. Let me know if I can help smooth that process at all.”

Sair nodded, smiling. “Once he and my mother arrive and get settled I’ll invite you to join us in the Lounge, perhaps? And that way I can get out a bit more myself. Goodness knows it’d be easy to spend all my time working since I still am getting a feel for the crew. Incentive for me to stop working,” she said, breaking into a light laugh.

Alex smiled and said “Take it from a workaholic… time away is a good thing.” and he laughed softly. He was quiet a moment and then said “And I will look forward to to meeting your family. Absolutely I would join you. Now, then… is there anything we need to discuss so you can update your file? Or have you decided that I am far too troubled to be a ship’s Captain?” he asked with a grin.

She laughed openly. “What? Did you really think this was my sneaky way of getting an appointment in?” she said, her grin wide. “But truly, thank you for meeting with me. I know there are what you Humans call growing pains, to any new situation. These are mine.” She rose to her feet. “And I’ll let you know after Koro and my mother settle in when we might be up for that dinner.”
Sair bowed her head. “Good day, Captain.”
