Shedda agreed with Darach, “Transporters would be faster, but a shuttle might be safer. If the away team was caught in a wave mid transport there is no telling if they would rematerialize somewhere safe. This Priestess Adept Kela seems to at least be willing to entertain the idea of help, and meeting with her may be our best chance to stop these waves from messing with space time.”

Mal’athar, XO
Alexander silently listens to the proposition. He was about to step in when Mal’athar talked about the danger of mid-wave transport, and so the Scientist goes back to listening. He was about to do the same remark as Mal’athar and preferred to let the Captain think instead of repeating the same information twice.

Lieutenant Alexander Carpenter - CSO

“Fair point Commander. Another alternative to make sure that the Manhattan doesn’t get separated in time from the away team. If we have enough notice of the wave, we could bring the Manhattan into the atmosphere temporarily over the city, decreasing the distance between us and the away team.”

CWO Darach - COO

“Lt Aevin, can you do it? You know what the Manhattan is capable of more than anyone. You’d have to move her quickly to avoid being hit by the wave. Or would it be better to go ahead and lower into the atmosphere? You and Chief Darach work on that.”

Aevin inhaled sharply. “It’d be easier with a smaller craft. But I can do it. We’re not getting hit again if I can help it.” He glanced back to Darach.

Walker nodded as he stepped out from behind his console and headed up towards the helm.

Shedda turned to the back row of consoles. “Lt Carpenter, Cmdr Wynter is there anything you can do to our shields to protect us from that wave? I will need either yourselves or someone from your department to join an away team if we go planet side. Lt Forgrave we’ll need a security detail/honor guard possibly as well.”
Alexander gathered all the information he had on the wave before saying : “I may have something : we could modify our disruptor to create a wave of the exact same frequency. When the two will collide, they will theoretically negate themselves.” Turning to Wynter, he added : “That might use less energy than reinforcing the shields. What do you think ?”

“If we were to negate the wave, would we risk the Manhattan not shifting with the planet then?” Walker asked as he stepped up next to Aevin.

“Run the simulations from the available data and let’s see if that has a chance.” Cochrane said.

A simulation would come up inconclusive. The wave itself held properties that were simply not in the ship’s database for known energy. Without further information related to that energy creating a counter wave or even a way to shield against it was spotty at best. That kind of information would only come from the planet.

“Lt Creed, incase we do get caught in another time jump keep an eye on sensors I don’t want to get caught unaware by the ‘Red Hegomony’ or anyone else hostile.”

She turned to Cochrance. He was the first contact expert on the ship, and as much as she loathed to see the captain leave the ship into an unknown, it was his skill set and the best person for the job. “Would you like me to page Mrs. McKenzie to join an away team Captain if you decide to go down to the planet?”

Not having heard from sickbay recently, =/\=Mal’athar to sickbay. Status report?=/\=

Mal’athar, XO

-Aevin

“Well Lieutenant, how confident are you in your pilot skills?” Walker asked with a slight grin. “What do the atmospheric conditions look like? I think the question will be how long will we be able to hold our position above the city. Because we only have a finite amount of fuel.”

CWO Darach - COO

Atmospheric scans would show the atmosphere to be on the thinner side

=/\=Songz here, Commander. We’re managing the patients that have come in and trying to see if there is a correlation between the aging forward or backwards and species. Not sure if there is anything significant there, but we’ll let you know if we come up with anything. How is the situation up there?=/\=

~Sair Songz, CNS

=/\=We have discovered the source of the waves that keep hitting us. We’ve been invited to the planet. It is possible they might know how to help those affected. I don’t want to pull anyone away that Dr Wynter might need. If she can’t be spared or anyone else, I would like a report on the symptoms so we can ask our hosts and see if they have any medical knowledge that might help.=/\=

Mal’athar, XO

“Lt. Carpenter, we showed a shield of some kind around the city. How high above the tallest structure does it go? And is it big enough for us to get the Manhattan inside of it? At least that way we would all be effected simultaneously. I am not keen of having some of us adrift in time.”

Cochrane, CO

The energy shield was spherical, not unlike a dome over a sports stadium. It was by no means an energy shield that would keep a ship out, or even weapons fire. It looked to be more for weather protection. While the buildings, or some of them, did in elevation come close to where the dome was, there were other areas of the city where the buildings were not high. There were perhaps three areas where the Manhattan could hover within safely. The atmosphere was thinner than Earth, but not as thin as say, Vulcan. There were no ‘active weather’ events about where the city was, however science meteorological forecast showed a front moving in within the next 14 hours, though that was, in itself, not anything cataclysmic in any sense.

“Helm, take us down and position us over the city, inside that shield. XO, prepare an Away Team with Mrs. Mckenzie included.” Cochrane said and tapped the ship-wide communications. =/\= All Hands, this is the Captain. Prepare for atmospheric maneuvers. All non-essential personnel report to quarters and stand by. Secure all non-critical spaces and clear all passageways. That is all. =/\= He then nodded to the Comms officer to open the line.

=/\=Priestess Adept Kela, we appreciate your candor as to the situation. We are bringing our vessel to your city, with your permission of course. We want to understand what is happening and try to assist you in dealing with the effects. If you were unaware of the extent that the waves were travelling, I think you may need our help in trying to curtail its effects. Is that acceptable to you? We do not have to land our ship, we will stay above your city and travel down from here.=/\=

Cochrane, CO

Mal’athar nodded, “Lt Carpenter, Cmdr Wynter decide who from your departments are going and who is staying. Lt Forgrave we need a two officer honor guard, minimum. Meet in Transporter room 2. Mr Darach, you have the bridge, but we’ll need standard away team equipment issued.”

=/\=Mal’athar to McKenzie. We need that diplomatic packet you were working on and a standard one. You’ll be going to the surface with the away team. Transporter room 2.=/\=

=/\=Understood Cmdr.=/\= Revna grabbed the chip she had finished and a standard one and slipped them into the pocket of her vest. =/\=McKenzie to Reil. Hope your ready for your first away mission. Report to transporter room 2=/\=

McKenzie, DA

OOC: pasting in from sickbay thread:

=/\=Sir give me a second and we will figure out who is going.=/\=

Lt Wynter

=/\=Understood Lt. We’ll be heading planet side as soon as atmospheric maneuvers are complete. Anyone joining us should report to Transporter room 2=/\=

OOC: Feel free to pick if you want your character to go or an NE. If you want to go or not just let me or James know and we’ll adjust.

Mal’athar, XO
