Shedda set her PaDD down and almost, but not quite, slumped back into her seat and held her hands, palm up, in a sign of defeat. “I know, I just don’t know what to ask for. I keep telling myself to be patient, but find I’m restless in my down time. So I find something to do, but then talk myself out of it. Because if I make it a habit to always be busy, then if Maava gets here I’ll let someone down. Her or the crew that I might have been regularly helping. It’s balance - I know.” She took a deep breath that came out more a frustrated sigh. “And my quiet hobbies don’t cure the restlessness.”

Sair gazed deeply for a moment, her expression one of knowing disbelief.

A bright white smile flashed across her lime green face. “I did go to the gym once, that was rather…comical. That particular group of crew either wasn’t aware of Orion strength or something. It seemed to disturb them how much I could bench press.”

“Does that bother you?” Songz asked, trying to gauge the situation. She herself didn’t know all the ins and outs of the various species she’d come across though she had been taking in everything she learned over her time in the exchange program. Still, there would always be nuances that escaped her. Those she needed to learn and figure out.

Shedda lifted a single shoulder, “It used to, when I was younger. Now not so much. It gives me opportunities to correct stereo types that history and the syndicates have created or perpetuated. Most people know Orion males are extremely strong, they don’t realize it is a trait across both genders. Usually, most of the rumors I encounter have to do with Orion pleasure slaves. I learned a long time ago that getting upset over it wasn’t good for me, my career, or being a representative of my species.” Shedda looked thoughtful for a moment, “Actually it was probably a good reminder. Something like that hasn’t happened in awhile, and Maava will be facing the same things.”

Sair gave an encouraging smile. “I’m sure you’ll be able to show her the way.

Glancing at her Padd, she remembered the name. “Ensign lbbal Algin. They’ve come a really long way. I’ve noted in their file that they have overcome a fierce amount of shyness in order to be a better member of their team, though I think it’s been reciprocal with the team learning to find ways to encourage Ibbal to speak up and truly giving them time and space. Not ready for a promotion but I think a command level notation of their progress is warranted. It’s good to have some personalized positive remarks on a file.”

Shedda was glad for the change back to work. The situation with Maava wasn’t going to get solved and dwelling on the waiting was only making the wait feel longer. Shedda tapped her PaDD pulling up Algin’s file and nodded. “And Algin is really good at what they do. Works hard and has great ideas. I’m glad to see them overcoming that shyness. I notation I think is warranted for the whole team though. It can be hard to learn how to not just work with but work for the betterment of someone else when you don’t understand. They have all worked really hard in improving their communication and team work.” Shedda took several minutes to make the notations and make sure they weren’t just ‘form’ inserts. She liked to make sure they were genuine.

“Alright that finished that department. Who’s next?”
