The idea had spawned as a passing thought while sharing dinner with Sair. Now it had blossomed into a full blown plan. Shedda stood in the middle of the holodeck scene. A soft grassy lawn, dotted with various different chairs, blankets, floor pillows, even a couple of hammock chairs suspended from trees. A large white screen was stretched across a frame waiting for light and motion to be projected along with various speakers scattered around. There was a small counter with heating elements and several Manhattan imprinted insulated cups for the crew to prepare and partake of the various hot beverages that would be on offer. Sair and Shedda had asked the crew to bring with them or to prepare on the holodeck a favorite hot beverage of their choice to share with everyone else.

They had decided to show a movie and had asked the crew to vote on a few choices. They would be offering a more family friendly film first, for those with young children, and then something for the older teenagers and adults after. Shedda looked around. “What do you think Sair? Should we put a few activities off to the side for the kids, incase they get bored? That way no one has to leave if the children get restless?”

Sair nodded. “I think that will work nicely. Koro might lose interest fast, though he often surprises me, so we’ll see,” she said with a grin as she glanced over at Koro examining the ground. Her son was immensely curious, taking the galaxy in around him quietly. She had moments of worry lately about his quietness but there were times he just burst into enthusiastic chatter and she felt she could take a breath.

After a few moments, there were a couple of sand boxes, a play water table, and a playground/jungle gym set up a bit further off. “There, what do you think?”

Rather than go through the process of soaking and straining the subra nuts and ekalonlenum, she had done all of it well in advance and now had a large pot of the slightly spiced nut milk drink warming gently on one of the burners.

Shedda had brought 3 French presses and a large pot to boil the water for Rakkearise tea. It was rich and dark, but had the earthy tones of tea rather than the bitterness of coffee. She had the leaves in the presses already waiting for the water to boil.

Stepping into the holodeck and meandering towards the gathering, Kel Songz smiled at the scene. There was something lovely about the whole thing that while not something out of her own memories still felt nostalgic. A thick dark green shawl was wrapped around her shoulders and she held it closed with her arms across her chest. “Good evening,” she greeted, smiling warmly at Shedda and Sair.

“I thought you weren’t up to coming?” Sair said, eyeing her mother with a hint of concern.

Kel shrugged. “I just thought I’d stop by for a little bit before hading to bed. I’ll be fine,” she said with a subtle wink.

Shedda smiled warmly, “Kel, I am glad you came. Would you like to try Rakkearise tea? It’s almost ready.”

“We’ll start the movie when more people arrive. There are chairs and blankets around and heated. If you need anything I can have the computer create it.”
