Shedda grinned, “Alright, let’s go.” She made her way to the nearest lift. “Alright Koro,” the XO took a knee in front of the lift, “Can you push the call button? That will tell the lift to stop for us.”

“I know,” he said with a smile. “Mira lets me press button.” He all but stabbed the call button with his chubby index finger.

Then she stood smoothly and ducked low when the lift opened. “Okay Koro, tell the computer who you are and where you want to go?”

Mal’athar, XO

He looked up at her before looking at the panel and chewing on his lip. “Koro! Go to garden… please?” He looked back at Shedda with wide eyed hoping he had done it correctly, even though the lift moved and the light changed showing they were changing decks.

Shedda grinned at him and winked with a nod as the lift took off. It slowed to a stop, but before the door opened the computer chirped. “Koro, this is not your stop. Please stay on the lift.” The doors opened to admit an ops officer who gave Shedda a nod and a polite wave to Koro before turning to face the door, “Deck 10.” The lift took off and paused again. “This is your deck Koro, please follow the dots to the garden,” the computer chirped.

Eyes alit, the boy was rather amused at the personal directions. That was definitely new!

Shedda stepped off the lift with him and pointed at the LCARs display on the wall. “See the large blue dots? Those are for you. If you follow them they will take you where you want to go.”

Mal’athar, XO

“I know the garden! I show you!” he said and set off at a run, though his little could only carry him so fast.

“Show me then,” Shedda chuckled, as did the other officers within hearing distance. Koro’s enthusiasm was impossible to not enjoy. Shedda didn’t really have to run, but she lengthened her stride to keep up with him. She ‘caught’ up with him just as he reached the door to the garden and scooped him up suddenly letting their momentum carry them through into the space and then swung him back down.

Koro giggled, enjoying the sweeping motion and brief moment of free-fall before his feet his the ground again. The Kobliad child looked around and with no set destination having been determined, he just ambled off to the right along the large hard path that went around the entire space. “We have picnics at the pond. Mama likes the big place though,” he said, pointing off towards the tropical glass house tucked in the corner next to The Hill.

“The pond is wonderful. I like to sit on the edge with my feet in it.” Shedda followed the direction of Koro’s point, “You know I have never been in there. My favorite are the food beds. It reminds me of when I was little. Have you ever grown your own plants Koro?”
