“Show me then,” Shedda chuckled, as did the other officers within hearing distance. Koro’s enthusiasm was impossible to not enjoy. Shedda didn’t really have to run, but she lengthened her stride to keep up with him. She ‘caught’ up with him just as he reached the door to the garden and scooped him up suddenly letting their momentum carry them through into the space and then swung him back down.

Koro giggled, enjoying the sweeping motion and brief moment of free-fall before his feet his the ground again. The Kobliad child looked around and with no set destination having been determined, he just ambled off to the right along the large hard path that went around the entire space. “We have picnics at the pond. Mama likes the big place though,” he said, pointing off towards the tropical glass house tucked in the corner next to The Hill.

“The pond is wonderful. I like to sit on the edge with my feet in it.” Shedda followed the direction of Koro’s point, “You know I have never been in there. My favorite are the food beds. It reminds me of when I was little. Have you ever grown your own plants Koro?”

Shedda

Koro shook his head as they walked down the path. Continuing on in this direction they would pass by the glasshouse and The Hill after passing the one side of the food beds. “Mirane had pwants, but Mira said she kill plants. People easier,” he said, attempting Standard again.

Shedda grinned hugely. She could see Sair saying that. She walked along with Koro, letting him talk as much or as little as he wanted. She didn’t want to lead the conversation, but rather let him share what he was comfortable with. He had also professed this was his favorite place, and favorite places held a certain magic about them for children, and Shedda didn’t want to break that magic by interjecting her adult perspective into that.

Koro focused on the orchard to their right and in fact some of the espaliered dwarf trees seemed to be growing fruit. He wandered over and eyed the different shapes and colours. “We can eat these?” he asked, tilting his head as she gazed at the way they grew along some sort of structure rather than up into the sky like other fruit trees.

~Koro

“These are Anate fruit. We can eat them, but not until they are ripe.” Shedda looked up and down the orchard looking for one that might be ripe enough to pick. Finally she spotted one. “Look here, see this one. It is a mix of pink but the bottom is turning dark purple? That means it is almost ready. We want to find one that is all dark purple. Then we can pick it and eat it.” Sair had rold her Koro lived the garden, so Shedda had checked already to make sure none if the plants or food in the Garden would hurt him. “Why don’t you see if you can find us one.”
