Koro looked down at the grass and then at the rest of the garden. “Go to glass house!” he said, jumping to his feet and hurrying down the wide main path and around the corner. At the next corner the tropical glasshouse reached the ceiling and the high humidity created condensation. Vines and even some of the trees grew tall, though this was still a young garden space there was still plenty of room for all the trees to grow taller.

He at least slowed down and waited for Shedda, a big grin on his face. “Mirane likes it in there because it’s warm.”

Shedda rose to her feet and hurried after Koro. She chuckled softly as she did. He had so much energy and was so refreshingly happy. He would have been a wonderful friend to Maava. The XO pushed that aside. No time for wishful thinking, Koro was taking off ahead of her. Shedda looked at the glass house. She really needed to come in and explore the garden more. “Well let’s go in and see it. You ate showing me all kinds of places, Koro.”

He beamed at her and went to the door, but the double airlock-style system made the doors even hard to pull open for a small child then they might have even before.

Shedda waited to see if he could do it, she pulled the door enough to release the pressure and he could open it the rest of the way.

Inside the oval space, the perimeter was entirely beds made to mimic a tropical forest. Some areas had a lush underbrush, others were more bare. There ere a few benches dotted around and the middle was open and covered in flat natural stone with a bit of texture so that people wouldn’t slip from the moisture. It wasn’t a big enough space to truly display all the layers of such a forest but this young space was starting to even form something of a canopy from trees species from different.

Various flowers clung to trees and grew from the ground, perfuming the air slightly and providing a rich background of colour.

“Oh this is beautiful! And so warm! I like it.” The UV lights were quite bright as well. It felt amazing on Shedda’s green skin and it soaked into her cells. If she stayed long enough her skin color would get richer. “Look at all the colors, Koro. I have never seen some of them.”

Very carefully the boy stood on the brick edge of the bed and pointed to a dark purple vine that was winding its way up a thin tree. “That one purple ki… kisk…” He shook his head. “I don’t remember. Mira told me. Screen on side over there”-he pointed out of the glasshouse in the general direction of the far side of the garden area-“have names.”

“But! This one!” He stepped across the space to a large plant with unremarkable green leaves but copious amounts of long pink flowers that were a strong of pistons covered in downy catkins. “It’s fuzzy,” he said with a giggle, petting the chenille plant.
