Cochrane inclined his head and then said loudly “Security. Stand down. Prep for evac of wounded and set paired overwatch on all teams.”

Lt. Valharra was with Reauna, discussing the scientific process of how it was created in the first place. Lt Valharra thought it was logical that if he knew how it was created, he may find some thought into the creator’s way to undo it safely. As he worked with her, he also listened to what was going on. Upon hearing of the Technician Zoon, he turned back to Reauna. “I feel it logical to ask, you’re not going to have issues working with them if the Captain asks us to share what we know so far?” He asked as a precaution.
Lt Valharra, ACSO

Reauna frowned, the first real expression that looked human from them; mainly they had been more expressive in their gestures than in any facial expression. What Valharra could ‘take’ from that was that neither Reauna nor Zoon was excited to be working perhaps both together or on this. However, Reauna had her wounds to her leg. While minor compared to others, and pain hypos administered, she would need some assistance in mobility. “There have been no studies in the operation of the Machine for a great many years. I will not say there is no other option to what we believe, but neither do I doubt the studies of those before us.”

Kaia lingered in the background, mostly confused as to what was going on but trying not to show it.

Kaia, Ensign

Cochrane looked around and then spied Kaia. “Ensign. We need and Engineer. Are you ready?” he asked.

Cochrane, CO

Kaia nodded her head, tail wrapping nervously around her leg. There was so much going on.

Jewels exhaled a small sigh of relief that this wasn’t going to escalate. She was a bit concerned about Zoon’s response, though. The idea the man wasn’t truly with them on this endeavor made her a bit uneasy. But she remained silent. She would keep an eye on him, of course. She would be remiss, otherwise. “Sir,” she spoke low to the Captain, ” will you be inviting them to the ship? I will need to arrange escorts if that’s your desire.” She wasn’t sure how far this friendship would go. But she wanted to be sure she had all her bases covered.

Cochrane looked back and said “Lieutenant, I may be crazy… but I’m not stupid.” and he gave her a wink before turning back to face the Speaker.

Crystal blue eyes gazed back at the Speaker with a bit of curiosity and a small smile. She liked the Speaker. There was something about them that made her realize, like Cochrane, they’d make things happen as they should, regardless what their superiors hoped.

“Am I sticking around, Captain?” Zakene asked. He wanted to be sure if he was needed before returning to the ship. It was much easier to prevent a diplomatic crisis than to salvage relations from one.

Lt Sozi Zakene, Diplomatic Attache

“Please.” Cochrane said. “I have a feeling we will need you to provide… perspective.”

While the tension slowly bled off amongst the groups a crowd of city dwellers slowly formed outside the temple. One who looked to be a caregiver approached and knelt beside Reauna, running what may have been a scanner over her, though it looked like nothing more than a thin clear rectangle of glass. Thin light blue spider web like script played along it. Meanwhile, within the temple, those setting up shop there were doing so. Only Zoon looked to be standing out in the midst of the group away from his troop and looking formally uncomfortable. He was looking at Reauna, perhaps wondering if it was his shot who had wounded her, and what kind of alliance was present.

Shedda looked at the woman helping Reauna, “Will she be alright? We have medical personnel, we can help if it is needed.” She wasn’t sure what they could do but surely Dr Wynters knew by now. Shedda tried not to move her leg too much, she had no idea what the weapon had done, and though she was certain she could pull herself to stand on one leg, she wasn’t sure it was a wise idea.

OOC: Hey Wookiee, is Shedda still with Reauna or back in sickbay now?

The ‘local’ medic looked at Shedda, still on the world, and watched her move her leg. “The treatment has stopped any plasma degradation. Pain and regenerative treatment is a progressive event that will take some hours to work through your system. It may ache, and no sudden moves for the remainder of the day.” He looked at Reauna. “Yours are deeper, however, the treatment is based on your physiology. The advice still is true - move with purpose but with care.” Helping both of them up, he scanned both of them again. “If pain returns, rest your injury. You may also consider examination by your own medical practitioners; your physiology is new to me.”

Mal’athar, XO

Shedda bowed her head slightly, “Thank you for your help. I will be cautious, and have them check me.” Later, for now she could stand and move. Shedda followed Reauna toward where the others were gathering.

Juliet watched the others and remained at the Captain’s side. Watching each side care to their wounded reminded her of other battlefields in other places. It also reminded her not all battlefields were enemy line drawn. Most, like this, came from conclusion jumping and misunderstandings. Or, rather, lack of understanding. She was glad, at least this time, that this was more of a latter than a former time.

Meeting new cultures was one of the reasons she had joined The Fleet, to begin with. So seeing her first encounter on the Manhattan was a first contact intrigued her greatly.

Kaia stepped a little closer to the CoS, glancing up at her.

Kaia, Engineer

Cochrane looked at the Speaker. “Speaker. I offer you a plan. I will send my experts here on the planet with a representative of your people and a member of the city here. We will endeavor, together, to find an understanding of the Machine and try to find a way to save this time and your own. I have Engineers and Scientists who are trained to understand new technologies. This is Ensign Kaia. She is one of my best Engineers and will lead our Engineering group. Lieutenant Valharra will lead our Scientists. Perhaps while they work, you and I and our diplomatic officer can speak on next steps?”

Cochrane, CO

Juliet glanced down at Kaia. She smiled and nodded to the engineer. “You’ve got this or the Captain wouldn’t say so. And I’m only a comm away.” She didn’t know the woman well, but she knew the look. She would support her crewmate, or anyone, who needed it.

The Speaker nodded and looked to Zoon. There didn’t appear to be any love lost between the two, as Sozi may see, but there was either a respect or an ingrained sense of the chain of command. Technician Zoon replied, “I will represent my city.” He did so without the characteristic gestures of those in their dimension. Reauna stood with some help from the medic. Her expression, as Sozi could see, was not favorable. “I am of rank,” she said. “I will assist.” She said that with a gesture of her hands and a bow of her head, though too Sozi could see that her eyes flickered up to Zoon and there were no warm fuzzies present there.

Zakene stood, watching the interactions between the Captain and Speaker, currently watching the body language of the rest of their people, trying to understand them to a better degree and also gain a rudimentary understanding of their culture in hopes to better appeal to them in their discussions.

Lt Sozi Zakene, Diplomatic Attache

Speaker Morta gave a nod. Whether he was concerned for others feelings it did not show. “You have your representatives, Captain Cochrane. May they produce the fruit that will save us all.”
- Morta, Zoon and Reauna

Satok helped Reauna up with the medic. Lt. Valharra then noticed the way she responded to the group. As a Vulcan he learned to not easily show his emotions, but he could tell she was weary of the situation. He too had some concerns about the logic and motive behind this Speaker’s intentions, but would help the people and Captain anyway he and the science team could.
Lt Valharra, ACSO

Juliet watched as the teams formed up and glanced at the Captain. “Do you want an escort to help them? I worry what others would offer by way of resistance to the delegation trying to suss this out.” She wasn’t sending security with the team to protect those on the Manny from those that had arrived. She was sending them to protect the whole group against anyone who didn’t want them to succeed.

“Two with each group. Sidearms only.” Cochrane said

“A show of force will not be taken well.” Zakene spoke up. “I understand your concern, Lieutenant, but that could be construed badly.” He hesitated at the end of his sentence, never taking his eyes away from the delegation. “Rule number 32 of diplomatic relations.” He said to himself.

Sozi Zakene, Diplomatic Attache

“True… but corpses ca be construed worse.” He said with a slight grin.

Just outside the temple at the courtyard they regrouped. Apart from the large contingent of security people forming a kind of perimeter about the courtyard things looked to be eerily normal with locals moving about in their sedate fashion, many looking alike with dress and they way they moved. Within the temple the Bakkalians remained behind their barrier and looked to be setting up position there.

Across from the temple courtyard were a series of buildings. One was a low domed, broad structure that was not unlike an umbrella top that served as a cover, for it was open at the plaza level to walk underneath. Within there looked to be a building of sorts but details were not easy to see with the roof dome covering so much of it. Reauna pointed to it. “That is the library. If there is information on the Builders it will be there.”

Together with Reauna, Zoon came to stand in the small group, looking austere and hard amongst the others with their softer flowing garb. “I am ready,” he said, then looked at Reauna. “It is said that the Emperor is a descendant of the Great Builder Mann’ch.” He seemed to almost shrug. “Whether true or not the Emperor has almost godlike reverence because of it. I am under oath to him in this duty.” Looking around he said, “This city is so bright. Open. Not like Bakkalia.”

“I have heard of a Builder named Man’ich,” Reauna said flatly. “There may be more about this Builder in the records.” Zoon frowned at the name pronunciation but said nothing.
Wookiee

Cochrane looked at Mal’athar. “Commander, go with them. If this machine is as old as they say, you will be the best equipped to analyze it. Keep comms open between you and the Manny. I want us to hear everything. Understood?”

Cochrane, CO

“Yes, Sir.” Shedda tapped her badge, =/\=Mal’athar to bridge. Keep open comms with me and record everything.=/\=

After getting confirmation Shedda moved toward the group, “Let us get started. The sooner we find the information the sooner we can find a way to save us all.” Shedda began walking toward the library, rather than just stand there. “Reauna, where would the records be stored in the library?” Electronic, paper, how it was cataloged, and it wouldn’t be written in standard. She gave a reassuring smile to Kaia. “With luck there will be schematics you can study.”

Mal’athar, XO

Reauna replied. “The records are all in our central computer. If by paper you mean non digital documents, I have never seen one.” She looked at Shedda. “Perhaps we might interface with your device and the central computer. That way data may be displayed in your language and form to understand it.”

=^= Aye, Sir =^= Longbottom said, then. =^= Sir, engineering is reporting a power drain. Low right now and our systems are stable. They are working to acquire the cause. They say it started right about the time your friends arrived. =^=

Juliet stepped away and ordered two pairs of guards to accompany the groups. She returned to the Captain’s side as the groups broke for their locations. She wondered if any of the new ‘allies’ would be coming to the Manhattan and, equally curious if they would get a glimpse of the alien tech and ship that was surely above them at this moment as well.

Underneath the canopy it was noticed that there was an opalescent sheen and glow coming from it that illuminated the underside. There was a building complex - single story that had the typical crystalline walls seemingly common to the city of Marilia. Translucent doors, cut in a kind of hexagon, slid silently open at their approach as an iris. Within there was a single, circular line of consoles surrounding what could only be described as the top of a sphere - the top of it being 30 meters across. It itself had a sky blue sheen with lightning playing through it just under the surface. The consoles surrounding it made for both a rim about this sphere but, apparently, some form of interface. There were no seats and it was utterly quiet.

Reauna looked at Zoon and appeared to be debating. “Do you still have our tongue? Our script?”
“Well enough,” Zoon said curtly. Reauna looked dubious. “Try to keep up.” It was noted that if there was a ‘device’ that he had it was not offered to link like the Starfleet offer.

They moved up to the console ring and Reauna placed her hand on it. There was a momentary glow about her hand as though for identification then, before them a shimmering wall .. perhaps holographic, perhaps an energy field, perhaps something else .. appeared before them for several meters on either side of them, even with the back of the console itself. On it data shifted and moved in an alien script trickling down from the top in lines bluish white in script upon a nearly transparent field.
