Shedda nodded gently. “It is very warm here.” Shedda knew, from first hand experience, that children often felt helpless. They saw problems but didn’t have the means or knowledge to help. She tapped out on a PaDD a message to Sair. She didn’t want to tread where she wasn’t welcome.

||Koro said your mother is often cold. He seems upset by it. Would it be alright for me to help find a way to help her? In his own small way? I was thinking of letting him pick a sweater or blanket to give her.||

Shedda

Sair replied within a minute. ||I think that’s a lovely idea. Her body has a hard time regulating temperature, so it’s a constant problem. So by all means, go ahead.||

Koro wiggled his fingers in the water for another minute before shaking his hand wildly in the air to dry it off, the water droplets making him giggle as they hit his face.

Shedda grinned and stood. Most of the plants were vines and had large leaves. Shedda moved them about for a moment and then the very top one she turned into the water and it created a tiered waterfall of leaves. The last one was frayed and fuzzy, so the water came off like a small shower. “What do you think you could do to help Mirane feel warm when she is cold?”

Shedda

Koro leaned in slightly watching the change in the water with curiosity and fascination and at first it might have seemed like he wasn’t listening. But eyes still fixed on the leaves. “A blanket is warm! I have one on my bed.”

“That sounds like a very good idea. What if she’s not at home though? Do you think she would carry a blanket with her? Should she have a bag to carry it in?” There were lots of options, and though a blanket was a very good option and the likely best, Shedda asked him questions so that later Koro wouldn’t feel like he hadn’t thought about it enough.

His brows furrowed as Koro screw up his face. Presented with this potential problem he was thinking through how best to go about this idea. “Would it be too heavy?” he said in Kobliad. Mirane was often tired and maybe she wouldn’t like to carry around a bag. “Maybe a blanket for her shoulders?” He wasn’t sure what that was called but he had seen them before.

“We call that a shall or perhaps a sweater. A shall is a blanket for your shoulders. A sweater is a blanket with sleeves.” Shedda told him, giving him a easy description of each.

“A blanket for her shoulders!” Koro said. “Then she can use it on her lap too.”

“Would you like to get her one?”

Shedda

Koro nodded with bright eyes.

Shedda held her hand out to him. “Then let’s go do that.” When they got to the door she looked at him. “Do you remember how to ask the computer to give you directions? Tell the computer you want to go to the ship’s store.” It was just a large room with industrial sized replicators, that could make larger or more complex things than what could be made in the smaller replicators in the quarters. There Koro could go through the whole replicator library.

Shedda

Hand in Shedda’s, the boy pressed his lips together as he thought. “Computer, show me the way to the ship’s store,” he said, giving Shedda a questioning look.
