Sair nodded, understanding filling her brown eyes and radiating from her. “I retrained in counselling to focus on the living, and it’s not always easy, but at least I feel more like I’m succeeding at what I do.”

“I’m glad. Anything’s hard when you don’t feel like you’re doing anything.” Eilah commented, leaning back in his seat.

She leaned forward and studied him for a moment. “You’re getting settled, and I need to find a way to be a part of the team. Would you help me with this? Show me some of these team building exercises you know and maybe we can pitch them to the captain as something for the senior staff to do?”

Eilah raised a brow. “Just the senior staff? …Yeah, we can start there. Sure.” He said and smiled. “I would be happy to help arrange this. Let’s present the idea to the Captain and I’ll teach you the games… I’m thinking we can start with a couple, but add a few others later. Or make it a regular thing.”

“My thought was to start with the senior staff because operationally we need to be a cohesive team, and there have been a lot of changes. But I see no reason why we can’t have regular get togethers for the crew. But I’m open to suggestions as well, for what you think works better.” A gleam appeared in her eyes and Sair thought for a moment that this was something she could really get into that was not about her typical sessions.

“Starting with the senior staff at least for the first time also makes sense because it’s a smaller group, easier to organize and iron out details with.” Eilah replied. “After we’ve done it a few times, I would like to include the crew. We all need to work as a team, after all.”

“Absolutely!” Sair said with an eager nod. “And we can maybe find ways to make it fun. Forced work togetherness can often backfire. Trust me, I know,” she said with a lopsided grin, remembering times at the hospital where the administrators meant well but really had zero clue what everyone needed.

“I’m hoping it’ll be fun. If not… Well, I’ll know. We can always reformulate.” Eilah said, tapping his head. “Let’s talk to the Captain later, he may have suggestions too.”

Sair nodded again. “Sounds like a plan.”

She sat back and considered him. “You seem eager for this assignment, and prepared for whatever changes it brings. Anything you’re concerned about? Any challenges you anticipate?”
