“Sickbays are supposed to be comfortable?” Faye said with mock surprise as she hopped up onto the biobed. “Huh, that’s a new one.” Ahhh, sarcasm- so comfortable and familiar.

~Faye Calloway, Data Specialist

Che’lak tipped her head in acknowledgement of the retort and began configuring the tricorder. “So I am told. I knew full well that I was leaving ‘comfort’ behind when I came into the field. I do not know why we spend so much time thinking about it in this department.” The doctor looked Faye in the eyes. “I have always found psychology, especially that of non-Vulcans… distastefully incomprehensible.”

Faye’s stormy grey-green eyes lit up with both fierceness and amusement. “An elderly Vulcan I once knew once told me that a refusal to seek understanding was a sign of laziness.”

Che’lak froze in place for a moment, eyeing Calloway, before inhaling deeply and continuing as was.

The tricorder began seeking a patient. “If you would please recline, it allows this device to work more rapidly. Before I go any further, is there anything you should announce that is not noted in your medical record? Any recent issues or oddities you may have experienced or expose to alien environments, for example.”

“Can’t think of any. Just the usual side effects of my meds,” Faye said as she laid back, thinking how it wasn’t really necessary. But she was willing to humour the doctor. Hey, maybe she could get a nap while she was here?

“Yes, good, everything seems as it should be so far.” The Vulcan maintained her focus on the readout as the considered her approach to negotiating the patient’s spectrum of medical concerns. “We shall come to such issues shortly. Have you had any further issues or incidents stemming from your recent accident, physical or otherwise?” she asked as the tricorder scooted further up the lieutenant’s frame.

Che’lak was experiencing a dawning appreciation for her patient. Accusations of lacking appropriate bedside manner had become anticipated. For the shortness to be directed at her from a patient was more than novel, it was extremely entertaining in the fashion in which the Vulcan appreciated the concept. She elected to remain cold and clinical… for now. A scheming side of the doctor, however, was considering the possibility of deliberately provoking Calloway. It was out of clinical interest rather than any kind of warped personal amusement, she firmly told herself.

OOC: If you’d like the tricorder to pick anything notable up, of course, do include it. :)
