“Hey… there we are… and…” Faye paused as she tried to make sense of what she was seeing. “Wow, interesting digs. And I’ve got a visual. Which is good. It means if we go slow, I can alter the program one bit at a time. The problem is that of course it’s going to take time. I think the better way to go, rather than trying to shut down the problem, would be to have the problem allow you an emergency beam out to sickbay. The emergency systems rate higher in the computer’s priority scheme. So when we call for an emergency beam out, it will prioritize the resources necessary to make that happen. But it seems we’re going to have to trick the system to allow it.”

“You could say so,” Kiama replied with a short laugh, followed by a slight wince. “That sounds like a good plan. Thank you,” she continued more seriously again. “Is there anything we can do or you want us to do or try from in here?” As she spoke, Kiama lifted her uninjured hand to her head and very gently massaged her temple in an attempt to fight the headache that was starting to build. She really hoped that it was just related to the drop in adrenaline and starting to really feel her injuries; instead of an indication to a more serious head injury.

Shon’s indigo eyes widened. His first reaction was to mentally kick himself for not having considered that option himself. But his second thought was that he hadn’t considered it a viable option out of hand because essentially it meant purposefully putting themselves in mortal danger.

In the distance, there was a rumble. Looking in that direction, at first there appeared to be a huge, dark cloud on the horizon. But upon closer inspection, the computer had generated a volcano, suspended upside down a couple miles in the air. Smoke was falling out of the opening and then billow back up the sides. Another rumble proceeded a spout of lava that fell in a straight line down to the earth, effectively creating a laser of lava headed their way.

“Well,” Shon said with a gulp, “trying to die so that we can live seems more reasonable than trying to live just to end up dying. What’s the best form of danger that we need to put ourselves in to trigger the emergency systems? We tried beaming out earlier and got no response, so if we’re going to bet on the emergency systems working, we need to find something that we’re sure will work.” He stared again at the appraoching ‘storm’. “And quickly.”

OOC: Fixing my split and my copy-paste mishap. Sorry.

Kiama’s black eyes widened as she started at the volcano. This was definitely not good. “Quickly sounds like a good plan,” she said faintly. Taking a deep breath and shaking her head slightly to clear it, while ignoring the fact that it made her headache worse, she suggested, “Maybe this shack isn’t the best place to be after all. Should we move?” Looking at ‘Faye’ she added, “Or will that interfere with your attempt to get us out of here?”

“Stay put,” Holographic Faye said conveyed. “I think the best thing to do is to work with timing. Now that I have a visual, I can trigger the support systems to kick in. It’s going to take a couple of minutes. I get that this is less than ideal, but you’re going to have to trust me, alright,” Faye said calmly as she worked furiously. they couldn’t see how madly she was working, sitting there on the corridor floor with her kit open, tools in quick reach and the front side of the control panel taken off entirely. But no one had else had responded so they could go jump out an airlock if they wanted to complain to her about it.

“Okay, some parameters are in place, so what I need you to do now is give me a countdown. When you think the danger is within thirty seconds, give me a yell. I can’t watch and work at the same time. After your warning, I’ll initiate a cascade sequence and that will trigger the beam out. Warning you now, it’s going to be frighteningly tight, but if it’s not the sequence won’t work.”

Shon gulped. Thirty seconds? That seemed like a rather specific number. The volcano was definitely approaching, but Shon couldn’t tell how fast it was moving or when it would arrive. He looked at Kiama. “So, do we just not run away from the lava falling from the sky? Just making one thousand percent sure that’s an actual plan that we actually agree on.” He couldn’t help but shake his head a bit at the absurdity of it all.
