Che’lak was experiencing a dawning appreciation for her patient. Accusations of lacking appropriate bedside manner had become anticipated. For the shortness to be directed at her from a patient was more than novel, it was extremely entertaining in the fashion in which the Vulcan appreciated the concept. She elected to remain cold and clinical… for now. A scheming side of the doctor, however, was considering the possibility of deliberately provoking Calloway. It was out of clinical interest rather than any kind of warped personal amusement, she firmly told herself.

OOC: If you’d like the tricorder to pick anything notable up, of course, do include it. :)

As she lay there, Faye’s fingers tapped on the side of the biobed. She just wanted to get out of here and the whole lying down thing was getting to her. The last time she had been lying prone in Sickbay she had been trying to process pain and people while she was coming back into consciousness. Before that… well… memories she avoided greatly.

Che’lak noted the tapping fingers beside her and it served as a caution not to play around with her patient. This was a living being she was ultimately here to protect, after all. That wasn’t to say she suceeded in heeding her own caution. “Everything seems normal. You may sit up. From what I have seen I would suggest that you may reduce your medication quatities by one quarter, if you feel comfortable doing so.” As she uttered the ‘C’ word, Che’lak eyed her patient, sending a reminder that her word choice wasn’t necessarily in her own hands.

Faye just rolled her eyes as she sat up. But she exhaled in slight relief as she found herself upright. “I’m always glad to be able to decrease the meds,” she declared. Snd it was true. In the early days, before her diagnosis, it had been terrible, but she had done a lot of work to get to a place where she functioned better. She could almost even say she was starting to live. Some days it felt tenuous, but there seemed to be continual progress.

The doctor delicately folded away her tricorder as she entered medical territory she was openly not at home in. “I am no counsellor but it is my job to update your medical record after this examination.” Her angular chin shuddered strangely as she swallowed what should have been a sigh. Strictly, she needn’t have inquired any further than the issue of medication but Faye was well on course to existing in Che’lak’s mind as a subject of interest as well as a patient. She was almost sure that if she allowed herself to begin probing Calloway on the Romulan experience listed briefly in her file that she would fall headlong into research mode. “How have your non-physical alements been since your last phys-“, she cut herself off, “examination?” The doctor kept herself moving by slowly lowering the tricorder to a nearby surface as she listened for a response.

Calloway eyed Che’lak intently for a moment before she replied. “Well, I’m sure I’ll speak about it with the Counsellor soon enough since I have an appointment booked, but it’s nothing unusual, for me. Just some sleep issues related to memories.” Faye shrugged.”I used to be able to meditate, but I lose that ability and I haven’t managed to get it back yet.” Time and space from her triggers seemed to be the key, but Faye was clearly no expert.

Nothing of particular interest there, Che’lak thought as she nodded in acknowledgement. “Well, that should be everything I need ask. Unless…” She tailed off. “Unless there are any enduring issues stemming from your experience in Romulan space? The information I have access to in relation to it is… limited.” The doctor half hoped that her querying would be met with a flat, unenlightening response. It was really not her concern, especially as any relevent health issues should have been listed.

Well that was always the awkward question, now wasn’t it? There was the real answer, and then there was the safe one- the one for public consumption. If she needed to, she could disclose certain things to Jasmine, but some random junior doctor? Not happening. Faye shook her head. “Nothing you need to worry about,” she said casually.
