Walker leaned back in the center seat for a minute. The first shuttles were finally off, and the general plan to transport all the materials to the surface was in place and sent to all departments. Now it was just time to set back and wait for the first thing to go wrong. Because something would go wrong.

“Alright, well since we’ve got some free time here. Let’s start a scan of the planet. See if we can find something that might be the cause of the problems they are having with their power generators, and the crop yields.” Walker said as he looked over at the science station. It would at the very least give them something to do while they waited.

WO Darach - COO

After waiting a little bit Walker stood up and walked over to the NE at the science station. “So, were you able to find anything out from our initial scans of the planet?”

WO Darach - COO

Scans would show an odd reading centering on the region where the crops were having issue and spread out, weakening, like fingers from there in many directions including in the region of the power plant. The reading was focused underground, however, and the specifics beyond that of a form of radiation were elusive.
- Wookiee

“We got some initial data coming back sir. We are seeing some sort of odd reading around the farms, it is looking like some sort of radiation is spreading out. Almost like fingers reaching out.”

Walker leaned back in the center seat. It was at least something to start with.

=^= Darach to Naim. You got a minute Lieutenant? =^=

WO Darach - COO

=/\= Sure, how can I help you? =/\= came Naim’s voice over the comlink.

~Lt.jg. Naim, aCSO

=^= We’ve been doing some scans from the Manhattan, trying to see if we can help identify what is happening down on the surface. We’ve detected some form of radiation spreading out from the farm region, and it seems to be connecting to the other areas having problems on the surface. =^=

WO Darach - COO

After a pause that felt like an eternity to her but probably lasted only a couple of seconds, Naim asked, =/\= I suspect you haven’t been able yet to determine what type of radiation it might be? Though from the sound of your report, it seems like that farming region is the source. Were you able to localise the point of origin more precisely? =/\=

~Lt.jg. Naim, aCSO

The point of origin was not a pinpoint, X marks the spot, dig here. Between seepage and potential underground water courses the sensors were unable to pinpoint it beyond the ‘area’. There was an issue where the radiation did not allow ship sensors to penetrate that far underground either which complicated it. Ground sensors and equipment would tell better being on the spot.
- Wookiee

Walker motioned to the NE manning the science station, who handed him a PADD.

=^= That’s a negative Lieutenant. We were able to track it to area, but the radiation is interfering with our scanners. But we are definitely seeing a hard link between the radiation in your area with the other regions, including the power plant. =^=

WO Darach - COO

Holding back a sigh, Naim replied, =/\= Thank you, Darach. We’ll see what we can find out once we arrive there. I’ll keep you posted. Naim out. =/\=

~Lt.jg. Naim, aCSO

The bridge received a panicked and hurt sounding message.

=^=Ensign Kaia to… Manhattan. Vehicle crash. Send… help.=^=

Kaia, Eng

=^= Ensign this is Darach. We read you. What happened? =^=

“Track the comm,” Walker said spinning in his chair, “and get it up on the viewscreen.”

“I have them,” reported a woman at tactical. “On screen.”

A broad topographical satellite view map came up. It showed the Graven city toward the lower part of the screen. Several ‘dots’ were pulsing on the screen in various areas - several in the city region. One duo of dots were moving that was to the middle left of the screen. Another two had a large yellow circle around the two dots. That was along a roadway north of the Gravenian capital some 70km out. “That’s the whole away team,” she said. “Distress is coming from the center dots North of the Capital. I read the medical and captain being in the Capital. Science is that moving dot on the left.”
- Wookiee for Tactical

=^= Bridge to sickbay. We’ve got a medical emergency. Evaluating injuries, standby for more information. =^=

WO Darach - COO

Hearing the response, Kaia tapped her badge again. Her voice was a little off, probably because of all the adrenaline-like-chemical running through her system. =^=Someone on the road. Veered to avoid and the car went off the side. Gravenite badly hurt. Broken wrist for me. I have not seen Max yet but I heard him shouting.=^=

Kaia crosspost

Walker looked at the map on the screen, focusing in on the team in distress.

=^= Ensign, see if you can find the Commander. We’ll work on getting you out of there ASAP. Standby. =^=

Walker looked up at the viewscreen. “Open a priority channel to the surface. Let’s get permission to pull our team out.”

At the nod from the watch officer, Walker tapped the control on the center chair. =^= This is the Manhattan. We have a situation on the surface. Looking for permission to transport our team, plus one of your citizens, out ASAP. Can we transport your citizen to our ship to treat his injuries? =^=

WO Darach - COO

=^=Max is nearby. Not sure where exactly.^=

Kaia, Eng

=^= Manhattan =^= came a voice that was official but quite puzzled =^= Transport to orbit approved. Please provide the identity of the citizen and any other information that we may pass this on ourselves. =^=

The comms activated as soon as the call was clear. =/\= Cochrane to Mr. Darach. Prepare for beam up. Myself, Ms. Anders, and the Counselor. Stand by for further instructions, possible members of Graven delegation. =/\=

Cochrane, CO

=^= Thank you. We will provide you with the information as soon as we have it. Manhattan out. =^=

Walker let out a sigh of relief. At least they would be able to get that situation solved quickly. He let out a small curse though as he heard from the Captain.

=^= Standby Captain. We are in the middle of an emergency situation here. We will arrange transport as soon as we get our team back. And I’ll brief you when you return to the ship. =^=

Muting the comm channel, he turned back to the engineering team. =^= Alright Ensign. We’ve got permission to beam you, the Commander and the Gravenite up to the Manhattan. We’ll lock onto the Commander’s commbadge, but position yourself next to the Gravenite so we can beam you both up. Signal us when you are ready. =^=

WO Darach - COO

It was only a few moments later that the Ensigns reply came.
=^=I am with the Gravenite. Three to beam up.=^=

- Kaia

The transporter room called up =^= Bridge. Porter here. I have a signal lock on the two crew but having trouble with the local. Signal .. fluctuating .. there .. have something. Transporting. =^= Some moments later, longer than would normally be. =^= Transport to Sickbay complete. =^=
- Hans Porter

The comms activated and the Captain’s voice came across again. =/\= Cochrane to Manhattan. One life sign to my right, myself, and Counselor Rollo to beam up. Emergency Transport to Sickbay. =/\= (Cross Posted)

Walker signaled for one of the ensigns to take over. “I’ll meet the Captain down in sickbay. Get them back up here ASAP.”

Without waiting, he headed for the turbolift.

WO Darach - COO

Before he left there was verbal confirmation that the transport was underway …
Wookiee

Less than thirty minutes later, the Caotain walked onto the bridge. “Report, please.” and he took his chair from the Lieutenant on duty.

“As you know Sir, the radiation over a wide spread area has made locating the source difficult; However, not impossible. Given what the Science team has located on the surface I think we can take the characteristics of the hull plating to conduct a Metallurgical Survey. In conjunction with thermal imagery on a more localized area, we may be able to isolate the source to within two hundred yards.” K’sang looked over his data screen one more time as he punched in numbers. “Once the hull scanning has been completed I can begin at any time.”

-K’sang, CSO

OOC: Posting comm from the Security thread.

IC: At that moment, the comms activated. =/\=Drake calling the Captain. I’ve a got a bit of a situation that’s developing here. I think that I need some help.=/\=

Cochrane scowled slightly in concern and keyed the line open from his end. =^= Report, Mr. Drake. What is the issue and how can we assist? =^=

Cochrane, CO
