On the large side screen to their left a detailed layered scan out to a range of almost 12 light years from the colony much of it beyond explored space showed up. The scans confirmed yet again that this whole region of space being as barren and empty as its name sake. There was simply no stellar gases, echoes, signals, particle dust, anomalies etc, within that 12 year light span of scans.
”..See what I mean?” he said.
Tera had sat quietly observing the exchange and glancing at the over abundance of art work. She noted that the Governor had a significant lack of manners but, being out so far and being so familiar with the same people, maybe such a thing never occurred to him. Tera did not think the same explanation applied tot he layout of his office though. They way the dais for his desk and chairs was set reminded one of a subtle game of King of the Hill. She would have to look at his psychological profile when she got back to the memorial.
Jade looked at the scan “It really is a barren part of space. Fascinating” she said as she looked at the unending blackness. She then turned to Tera “Counselor. I would like you to do random evals on some the colonists. We both know that staying at nothing for days and days can have serious repercussion to one’s mental health” she said simply.
She then looked at the governor “Have your people managed to figure out why this are of space is like this?” she asked
”..We got some theories, Dr Phillips one of our lead egg heads thinks its due to some subspace super nova similar to Hobus about 200,000 or so years ago. Dr Marsale though disagrees and thinks it is proof of his theory of sub-atomic subspace fissures..” he then chuckled a bit, “..The arguments those two get up too in the wee hours of hte night are like an epic ballad of ancient times! It’s frankly amazing how both of them are married really!!” he said.
”..As for your evals go ahead, just schedule it all with their department heads so it doesn’t interfere with their work schedules..” He said.
Tera took out her ancient notebook and began writing names down and a few other things in her own personal shorthand.
“Yes, I’ll be certain to do that. You know, a little diversion might be good every once in a while.” she trailed off contemplating the subject.
”..Well then I’ll let you two see yourselves out, unless you got anything else for me?” he asked, obviously trying to wrap things up.

Tera decided she didn’t want to leave just yet so she took a chance not knowing what the Commander had in mind.
“Actually Governor, I’d like to sit and talk with you for a while. Having such an interesting job must have it’s effects on you also. You’d be doing me a great service by helping me understand just what it takes to run a place like this.” she explained attempting to be flattering.

Jade looked at the Counselor and half smiled And that’s why I brought you along. Jade thought to herself “Yes I to would like to hear about your job. I know how to run a ship but i can imagine a colony would be a whole different kettle of fish.” She said respectfully.
