“Yes sir,” Ensign Brekag said as Lt. Zero escorted the ensign to the turbolift. He then went inside the quarters, picked up the phaser and placed it in a bag. He wrote the information on the bag, took the turbolift back to his desk outside of Lt Zero’s office, and wrote the report of what happened and filed the phaser into evidence.

Zero returned to the office after a few hours and said “ crewman Jackson is heading back to earth the next time he pass a ship there going to take him” he said sitting behind his desk he took his freezer out of the holster popped the energy cell out and he also took out a rag and he started to clean and polish his phaser.

Lt. Zero (COS)

“I hope he will be okay. It’s a tough loss to lose one family member, leave alone two.” Ensign Brekag said to Lt. Zero as he turned in the paper version of his report.

Zero was reading it over “you did remember to re seal his door right” he asked

Lt. Zero (COS)

“Yes sir.” the ferengi ensign Brekag responded.

(You didn’t)

Zero checked his console “Then why is the security over ride still on. Get down there seal the door and bring me my Device” he said. As he wrote the Officer up.

Lt. Zero (COS)

Karina had heard that there was an incident and security had responded. Since she had not been summoned she assumed the CoS on board, a Lt Zero, had everything well in hand. She didn’t want to invade his domain, but she did want him to know she was on hand if he needed anything. It was a delicate balance, but since she was still new to the ship she wanted the opportunity to meet and introduce herself to the senior staff that she would be working closely with. So with that in mind she altered her stroll through the ship and headed toward the security office. She entered the outer area and smiled to an NE who jumped to attention at her arrival. “At ease, ensign. I was looking for Lt. Zero if he’s not busy.”
Lt Cmdr Enger, XO

A voice from the back office “I am back here” it called as the security NE relaxed as he went to the showers.

Lt. Zero was Busy with today’s paperwork making sure they had both hard copies and electronic copies. The young Lt was well groomed with an easy-going attitude but his eyes have seen too much for someone so young. He looked up from his work and saw the XO “ welcome to the soul of the ship he said”

Lt. Zero (COS)

Enger moved towards the back office and stepped into the door way. Karina took him in at first glance. He offered a professional appearance and she appreciated that, but his eyes had seen too much too soon. But such was the way in these times. In the aftermath of an organization that was on a peaceful, scientific exloporation of space, to a truly military power. And now where did they go from there? She had a feeling that Lt Zero was someone she would be glad to have in charge of security.

She’d heard of engineering being called the heart of the ship, and most were familiar with that idea. But she had to agree. “Thank you, Lt. The soul of the ship, indeed. You see the good and the darkest secrets, do you not? Sometimes even more than the counseling staff.”

“I was on my way to introduce myself, but I heard there was some kind of emergency. It looks like you have it in hand,” by the fact he was already back in his office, “But if I can do anything, I’m at your..” oh what was the word?, “disposal.”
Lt Cmdr Enger, XO

As the XO walked in, Ensign Brekag, the ferengi security officer nodded at Lt. Zero, and walked out of the office to continue his patrols of the ship.

Zero handed her a padd “crewman Jackson lost both his father and brother he was late to his shift. He was going to self harm himself. I was Abel to take him down. He is still talking with a counselor he is very upset about his family passing I don’t think he will recover fully but on a star ship will not be the best place for him as the time” he said as he Finished the paper work “I am just waiting for ensign brekag to return with my door over ride Device he claimed he resealed his quarters but he did not”

Lt. Zero (COS)

Karina glanced over the PaDD as Zero gave her the details. It was a hard situation. The loss of family was always hard, but to loose multiple family members at once was harder. She made a note to speak to the counselor about Jackson later. A change of duty station may be in order and she took into account Zero’s recommendation. “Do you think he would have harmed anyone else?” What was more concerning to her was that no one had checked in on Jackson before, that after loosing two family members the counselor or his department head had not taken preventative measures to ensure Jackson’s mental health. She would have to get all the information before she decided if there had been a break down in monitoring crew safety.

She glanced up from the PaDD, returning it to Zero, at the mention of En Brekag. “He didn’t secure the door before walking away from it?” It wasn’t like they had hostiles on board, but following procedure was essential, especially when concerning ships safety. It didn’t do to be relaxed.
Lt. Cmdr Enger, XO

Zero leaned back in his chair “ I don’t think Jackson would’ve harmed anyone just himself when writing up my report there was an incident when he was in high school his mother passed away and he tried poisoning himself out of grief. But still taking a phaser might’ve been a cry for help the program I have running makes it so only properly checked out phasers can operate on board. I think we’re going to have to relieve him from duty for the time being until the counselors believe he’s safe to return back to duty and I will have my security do welfare checks on them every three days” he said turning his chair to the wall. He placed a hand on it and a small safe opened up. He put his duty phaser in the safe and grabbed a pair of glasses he then grabbed a small container and put it to his eyeball his contacts came out with ease. He put his glasses on and said “ oh much better don’t know about you but I don’t like contacts all that much”

Lt. Zero (COS)

Karina shook her head. “Someone has severely let this young man down. There is no excuse for not being forewarned about this then if he has a previous history of such actions. I am afraid you are correct Lt. He will have to be releaved of duty. But if he’s willing to harm himself I believe we will need to confine him to sickbay or the brig. Somewhere with a closer observation.” Karina let out a small sigh, “Well we will have to wait and see what the counselor says.” Karina waited quietly while he took out his contacts. “I’m afraid I have no…ex…ummm…oh! experience with either contacts or glasses. If you dislike them why do you not just wear your glasses?”
Lt Cmdr Ender, XO

Zero smiled “Because Starfleet wants me to see supposedly my glasses can easily fall off. He can be very dangerous but they forget about a simple invention I can connect a small chain around the sides so if the fall off they will not go far” he said with a small joking attitude.

Lt. Zero (COS)

Karina nodded, she had a voice modulator and would not have been accepted to the academy without it. She knew many had such corrective modifications made. She wondered if it was a personal or cultural choice but understood that it was a personal question and was part of that strange thing called ‘privacy.’ “I do not wish to take up too much of your time, Lt., but what can I do to help your department? I would like to…” idoms were so difficult, “put us on the right foot?”
Lt Cmdr Enger, XO

Ensign Brekag was sitting at his station in the security area writing his daily report. “…I resecured the room and placed the device that Lt. Zero used on his desk…”
Ensign Brekag, security.

Zero looked at his device and back over to brekag “thank you ensign go hit the ahowers your shift is over” he said the he looked back at Enger “we’re good down here at the time but thank you for asking” he said leaning back in his chair.

Lt.Zero (COS)

“I won’t keep you longer, Lt., but at some point I would like to sit down with you and discuss your department in depth. Strengths, areas for improvement, items you need, personnel. You know your department best and how you best serve the ship. Rather than me blundering around trying to figure it out, I would rather have your opinion on it.” Karina didn’t know how much the previous XO micro managed or ignored the departments but she always found that she preferred an XO who listened and utilized her department efficiently. “I look forward to working with you Lt. I’ll leave you be now.”
Lt Cmdr Enger, XO

Zero went back to completing his reports as the XO left his office he lean back a little bit more and rest his feet on top of his desk. After an hour he got up and stretched his legs were cramping a little bit a little bit too much recently so he went to stretch his legs a little bit and walked down to the mess hall to see what the chef was making for dinner.
