(OOC: Linds, I’m assuming our characters made it to the Holodeck without issue, but let me know if my assumption is wrong.)

Mark arrived at Holodeck 3 on Deck 20 with Danora. He had led them here as it was the closest holodeck to the Shuttle Bay.

“Okay, let’s see what we have hear,” Mark said to Danora, getting straight down to business, pulling out his tricorder.

=^= Computer, start a new program, Spherical Probe 1. Download all scans from this tricorder classified as the sphere probe, and begin rendering.”

As the computer began working, Mark looked over at Danora. “I think its best to start with the original rendering of the probe, and then we can expand or remove parts as we need to.”

-Lt. (j.g.) Mark SInclair, CE

OOC: You’re good. :)
IC:
The simulation generated a perfect replica of the exterior and interior sphere. For the moment the hatch that had allowed them access inside was closed.

(OOC: Sorry for the delay in replying. Also, Mel - not sure know if your character is staying behind at the Shuttle Bay (and I’m here with an NE) or if you are still joining my character here…)

“Computer, remove exterior sphere, and enlarge the inner sphere by a factor of five,” Mark said aloud, as he started walking around the projecting. The Chief Engineer was scratching his chin, and he tried to ascertain the function of the inner sphere.

He paused to look over at his companion. “I was thinking of focusing on the inner sphere first - where the lifeform emerged from,” Mark explained. “Although we could study both the exterior and interior spheres at same time…”

“Now…,” Mark said, partly to himself and party to the hologram. “What was your purpose and how did you keep the lifeform contained…”

“Computer, what the material used in the makeup of the inner sphere?”

-Lt. (j.g.) Mark Sinclair, CE

((dumped NE on Shuttle bay and Dani is here with the Chief))

Dani watched the rendering and frowned a moment. “Well.... if it came out of the inner sphere, wouldn’t it be more prudent to remove the inner sphere and investigate it? From the inside, I mean.” Her hand spanned the room to indicate being inside it.

She walked a couple steps around the internal piece and sighed shaking her head. “Though the exterior of the internal ball could tell us if it was interfacing with the creature. Couldn’t it? I mean, the inner sphere had one or two purposes, right? It was either there to assist the creature, or merely collect and store information during its travel.” She wasn’t sure if she was actually making sense. It was thinking out loud that helped her keep her mind on things.

She walked the entire circumference of the sphere and shook her head trying to suss out the various panels and their purposes, her fingers rising to her mouth as she gnawed absently on the edges of her nails, deep in thought waiting for the computer’s response to the Chiefs query.

OOC: It did come out of the inner sphere. Don’t know if that changes your line of inquiry or not… ~Linds
((Oh, thought it came out from between the two spheres… I will alter post))… upper post altered, and continued below…

Dani frowned. “Ok… so inner sphere was ‘home’.... soooo…” She paused a moment and put her hands on her hips. “Did it ever occur to anyone that it wasn’t imprisoned there? Maybe it went in on its own. I mean, the inner shell could have been a ship or suit of some kind meant to protect it while its out in space!”

Her excitement grew as the idea formed in her mind. “Computer, was the outer shell capable of taking readings and samples? Also was there interface between the inner and outer shell and a sharing of information into the inner sphere?” The idea that this had been an exploration vessel and not a prison had her giggling with joy and wondering if the they had stumbled on someone, or something’s, shuttle.

AI Spec

“Based on the internal workings of the sphere, the outer sphere contains rudimentary sensors to monitor for damage. The inner sphere appears to be housing only with stasis-chamber-like components. The space between the two spheres holds all operational structures and computer programming to operate the sphere. Would you like a hypothesis as to the operational purpose of the sphere?” the ship’s AI asked.
