The last few months had been a blur but somehow through it all JT found himself back on a runabout returning to the Memorial. When he had left several months ago he did so as an LTjg and the ships helmsman. Today he found himself wearing the pips of a LtCMDR and returning as the ships XO. No doubt there would be questions as to the hows and whys, both to his promotion but also his disappearance. Sadly orders were going to prevent him from disclosing much, but to say it had been an eventful trip would be an insult to understatements. His medical report would also be fun to go over with the doctor, lord knows they like the details of broken ribs, and internal trauma. Sadly they would just need to settle for the ‘whats’ and not worry about the ‘hows’.

As JT continued to try and remember all that had happened, there was a blip on his scanners. Looking down he could see the Memorial coming into range. “Home sweet home” he thought to himself before sending out a hail.

Danora was in the hanger working on inventory of some parts in one corner when the alarm sounded for an incoming shuttle. Backing up to the observation room a few feet away, she watched the shuttle come in and land. Once the clear bell sounded, she stepped out to greet whoever was coming back. It was always interesting to see who had gone where and done what. Though she admitted, it was hard to see some go.

The runabout landed hard. it was visually a hulk of its former self. Not space worthy by any means.

PaDD in hand, hanging loose and half forgotten at her side, she stepped around to where the ramp lowered to see if assistance was needed with cargo, bags, etc. Because she wasn’t expecting Command rank officers, she hadn’t been particular in her uniform. A regular set of coveralls cut her a decent figure and her hair, though regulation that morning, had somehow escaped into what looked like a wind tussled mess that she had deftly retwisted into a knot and loose tendrils still wisped around her face where they had escaped. She had a carefree look about her that most people got when more absorbed in what they were doing than how they were looking.

OOC No idea how I missed this originally.

Once the landing was complete and the shuttle powered down (not a task that took long given the fact it was barely powered up in the first place). The ships airlock hatch opened and smoke and the smell of burned.. everything filled the air of the pristine shuttle bay this runabout was sullying. After a moment JT stepped out and took the first clean breath of ‘fresh’ air in a few days. Looking he spotted the figure of a female officer near by “Permission to come aboard.” he stated

The poor shuttle made Danora wince. How did the occupant survive? She had been about to tap her comm badge for medical when the figure stepped off and took a deep breath. Without thinking, a large smile spread over her lips and knot in her chest she hadn’t realized was there, loosened at seeing JT exit. “That depends, Sir,” she smiled and brushed the wayward strands back from her face. “Do you have a good excuse for not keeping in touch.”

“Danora!” JT said excitedly able to ignore the pain in his improperly healed injuries that were exacerbated by his rough trip home. “you are a sight for sore eyes.” he added as he realized that at this moment it was the best he had felt in months. Truth be told She was the first person he had seen in person in months, and secretly the only person he wanted to see. “Mostly classified, but Ive got a few stories I can share some parts of.” deep down it had killed him that he couldnt keep in touch.

Stepping up, she nodded. “Of course. Permission granted. Welcome home, J.. I mean, Sir.” She bit back the familiar title realizing she hadn’t ever been that close to him before. Realizing she had been thinking of him as JT when musing where he was and what he was doing, a slight blush rose on her cheeks. To cover it, she turned and set her PaDD on the console behind her before composing herself and turning back to him.

JT Smiled as she caught herself. “Yeah. weird right?” he said realizing this was “JT is fine when no one else is around” he added softly hoping she would take him up on the offer.

Hoping the comment about stories was an invitation, she smiled and nodded. “I’d like that. Lemme know your favorite drink and when.” Desire Danora’s smile, there was a wince in her face a moment as she saw him move with difficulty.

“Kinda Hard to choose just one” he said with a smile in response to her query about drinks

Frowning slightly, Danora shook her head. “Something’s not right. Supervisor reports, debriefs, or whatever, can wait. I’m taking you to sickbay.” A thought occurred to her then, and she frowned. Reaching to touch his arm in concern, she cocked her head curiously. “How bad was life support on the shuttle? Be honest, please. Something tells me you’re feeling luckier to be here than you should.” She could have asked ALI, the ship’s AI program. But she wanted JT to trust her. Shewanted more. But she’s settle for trust, first, if she had to.

“Ill be okay. Ive got some bumps and bruises from the ride home, but my real injuries have already been tended to” he responded, not wanting to let on to the shoddy work done when it came to the healing of those injuries. He would tell her more when the time was right but the middle of the shuttle bay was not the right place.

“I thought I had the shuttles systems working again before I set course to the memorial but I’m a pilot, not an engineer. Hit some subspace turbulence about halfway home and it took out my patch job. Gravity is gone, Life support is at about 4 percent and the replicators haven’t worked in months.” then thinking he added “Ill make my way to sickbay to check in later, what I really need is a shower and a meal that isn’t just protein nubs.” It was at that moment that his face turned a bit red when realized he hadn’t showered in.. a while. he can only imagine how he smelled. Sponge baths and deodorant only go so far. at least he had the foresight to keep the uniform he was currently wearing packed away and clean till he got home. “Care to show me to my cabin?” I’m sure they re-assigned my old one.”
