Although the journey to respond to the distress call was brief in relative terms, it still was not instantaneous. As such, there were still things that could be handled in the interim. The nature of the current mission was not normally what the Memorial was tasked to handle; they were dispatched because they were the closest vessel available. The likelihood that they would actually be engaged in combat operations was unlikely. Because of that, Commander Massana was fully aware that there was a risk that the crew would get complacent. He refused to allow that to happen. As such, he sent out a message to the entire crew via their personal text communications.
=/\=ATTENTION ALL CREW: Emergency drills simulating combat damage response scenarios will begin approximately two hours into your respective shifts, starting with the shift change in six hours ship time. They will last approximately thirty minutes ship time. The start and end of the drills will be announced with a five-note chime. The AI will create the scenarios and track your performance.
