Lieutenant Beckett made her way forward, to the bow of the ship. In truth, she probably should have been working in the higher security areas of the ship, her domain. But that didn’t suit her other purposes aboard the self-titled ship of her class. The Memorial had a history and came from an important legacy. Designed for her strength, surviving and settling conflicts and violence. But she was only as strong as her crew. Training only went so far. The real test of a good crew were their connections and ties to each other. When it mattered, a crew that would fight for each other, strive for each other, like iron sharpening iron, made the difference between mere excellence and truly outstanding. The finest among Starfleet were never lone individuals but crew united in task and purpose, bonded to each other. Training could do a lot, but spending time and getting to know one another, connecting was another.

Back home on the Outpost… Funny that she thought of Outpost 42 as ‘home’ now, rather than the SS Atlas, her family’s cargo hauler, as home. Even though Outpost 42 hadn’t been home since Alex McCormick had left. Soon after most of the senior staff scattered to the four winds. Entire departments restructured almost overnight. She had fond memories of the promenade and ins and outs of the station. But the thing that made it home, the people, weren’t there anymore. She’d found that out the hard way when she’d left too, and came back, serving as Strategic Operations Officer. The job had been exciting… at first. But then proved to be predictable and even boring. So it was that she’d returned to more shadowy, cloak-and-dagger work.

But now, aboard the Memorial, she was back in the light. And though she’d been in Starfleet for over a decade, working security, then intelligence, and then both had made her a little paranoid, and shown her some of the worst in people, she’d also seen the best and brightest too.

So it was that she found herself making her way into the forward lounge. A trip to the replicator netted her a large cup of tea. The Memorial was more spartan in it’s design than say the Mythology-class. Or as a few folks had dubbed them, the luxury whale. The Memorial was shorter on creature comforts, bred and built for war, combat, and escort duty. This meant spaces like 2-Forward were at a premium. It was always a busy place. Maybe not packed to the gills, but there were plenty of folks around and seating was limited.

Maria turned about, managing to find just about the only empty table up the stairs at the observation deck, parked in a quiet little corner. From there,s he could see most of the room below as well as ahead of the ship as they cruised along. It was a nice view. Setting down h er mug, she also sat down a PaDD and idly began scrolling through it’s contents while observing the comings and goings of the various beings both in and out of uniform below.

TL;DR - Ship’s security/intelligence chief is visiting 2-Forward. Feel free to pester. Or pester somebody else on the crew. Just a fun social side-sim for people to hop into.

Lt Beckett, COS

On the table next to Beckett’s sat KT. She to was watching the crew trying to learn more about organic social behaviours. She had tried it on the Viking had received very positive results. So here she sat watching the world go by a glass of water and a padd on the table. She didn’t need either but she had learned it made her stand out less. After all that was hard thing to do has her mottled green skin, soft forehead ridges and yellow eyes made her stand out enough. That was even before people found out she was a synthetic. It was something she was used to, it was unnerving at first but KT soon adapted to it. At least people looked at her out of intrigue instead of why they looked at her when she was first created.

She watched Beckett as she entered and allowed he eyes to follow her as she got her tea and found her seat. Once becket had sat down KT nodded to her in greeting. It was a practice she had observed multiply times and figured that wound be an acceptable way to greet someone she did not know. But KT was also curious what the COS would make of her, would she be seen as a threat or would she been seen as something else, she hoped she was considered a member of the crew by security and not a security risk, but she knew some organics where always hostile to her kind.

It was quiet in the Janzen quarters without his wife there. BJ was starting to get used to having some quiet time for himself. He was still getting used to her duties as Captain being the priorities. Every couple of days he would come down to the lounge. It gave him a chance to interact with crew he wouldn’t normally get a chance to normally. BJ entered the lounge and looked for an open spot. There was usually one.

Janzen

KT spotted Janzen walking in. The relationship between him and CO was fascinating to KT. She wondered how organics so controlled by emotion manged to have relationship such as there’s with it getting in the way of either of their duties. Se wondered if it was hard for them or if it was easier after both of them being a couple for so long. She had meant t go down t science at some point and see what they made of her people and her planet. But she hadn’t manged to find the time. While she was capable of running non stop organics required sleep. So it had made organising things difficult.

Maybe now was a good time,. but she had no idea how to initiate the conversation.

BJ scanned the room for a place to sit. There was always a place . He looked around and found a spot with someone he hadn’t seen before. He had heard of an inorganic onboard, but had yet to encounter them. This would be a good chance to get to understand them.

BJ went to the replicator for some food. He sat down. “Hi, I don’t think we’ve met yet.”
