Jhalae nodded, “Well it looks like we need to be directing our questions to this advisor. I say we make contact with the XO and inform him of this new information.”

Ynuchausti, Engineer

The robots responded to Dani “when you arrived on the surface, all security measures were made ready. Guards,” they gestured to themselves. “were dispatched to determine your nature and origin.”

-GM

Dani smiled and nodded to Jhalae. “I agree. But let’s make sure they understand we’re friendly.”

“Good idea, Chief” Jahlae said.

Looking back to the robots, she nodded. “Your help and protection has been remarkable. And we thank you. May we use the comms to contact the rest of our people and let them know we are all safe and tell them what we see on the monitors so they can discuss the next steps with The Advisor?”

She has the feeling that the literalness of her words might be their undoing if she wasn’t careful. She needed to let the XO know what the monitors were showing, but also let him know that, at least on this end, the robots hadn’t considered them enemies. At least, not yet. She hoped they wouldn’t have to come to that. She hated during her phaser. She was a lousy shot at any distance.

“Permission granted.” They tentatively agreed.

-GM

Surprised by the response from the robot, Jhalae looked at the CE and nodded with a smile.

Ynuchausti, Engineer

“Well, that was easy.” Relaxing just enough to tap around the cameras, she did a final sweep to see if everything was still working the same things.

Raising a hand to her comm, she called to the XO. =^=Commander Massana, Chief Engineer Allance. Were just checking in. All’s well here, Sir. =^= She hoped the man would get the hint she was checking on them as much as letting him know they were all right.

=/\= Understood, Chief. We are unharmed but currently still in discussions regarding the situation. Continue with standard operations until otherwise instructed, =/\=

“So I guess we wait.” Jhalae said as she stared at the robots. “Kind of unsettling. Don’t you think? Just having them” she motion toward the robots with her eyes, “watch us and not knowing the next thing that’s going to happen?”

Ynuchausti, Engineer

Jack, who’d been watching the screens with mild interested chuckled slightly “You can never know what’s going to happen next Lieutenant, just do the best possible and prepare for what you can”

Dr. Grey - CMO

“Good point, doctor.” She looked around to see where she could be the most useful. “Where do you think all those people went?” She asked Dani.

Ynuchausti, Engineer

BJ overheard this part of the conversation. “If I’m them; as far as I can get.”

Janzen

Jhalae laughed, “Roger that. If only we could do the same.”

Jack nodded at the Chief Science officers comment “That may have been the most prudent course of action. Hopefully we’ll discover more when the team reunites and we start comparing notes.”

Dr. Grey - CMO

“Any theories on this mysterious illness doctor? Do you think it’s contagious or genetic?”

Ynuchausti, Engineer

Dani smiled as the banter went on around her. She kept switching between the view screens. As the Doc and engineer talked of the illness, she took a chance on speaking her question out loud. “Why are there people in the cages?” She looked towards the closest robot Who seemed to be in charge in their location.

She knew something had occurred, obviously. But the fact she wasn’t sure, still, who was on what side, is what troubled her the most.

Bump!

The question was considered for a moment before it was answered, as had become customary. “They are dissidents. They came to the surface without permission or cause and created a disturbance. This is unacceptable.”

-GM

“This society obviously doesn’t have much tolerance for rebels. Do they?” She mumbled to herself. She addresses the robots and said, “We do apologize for all the questions but each time you give an answer it leaves up even more questions. What will happen to the dissidents? Will they go through some type of litigation and then serve a sentence?”

Ynuchausti, Engineer

The robots seemed to neither notice nor care that the starfleet crew was asking all kinds of questions.“Their fate will be decided by the King and the council. Those whom your companions were speaking to. The nature of the sentence is uncertain until the King decides it.”

-GM

Danora had had a feeling that was the answer. There were rarely tribunals or courts when royalty were involved. “You said they came to the surface and created a disturbance. Did they come up from below, or from above as we did? And what kind of disturbance? I know we accidentally set of your alarms, but we’re here to help. Perhaps they wanted to help as well but did it incorrectly.”

The fact that true strangers landing here, setting off the alarms, and then settling in, wasn’t a disturbance, made her wonder just what would cause such a title to be afforded to those who came.

Jahlae could tell Lieutenant Allance had thought of or discovered something, “What is it?” She asked, “What are you thinking?”

Ynuchausti, Engineer

Dani shook her head slightly as her lower lip slid between her teeth while she thought a moment. “I don’t know. If the people came from below, maybe they’re from here and someone chose to take control while they were down there. Like a coup or mutiny. But if they came from above, as we did, then maybe they just weren’t as savvy as we were and got caught by whoever’s in charge.”

She ducked her head down and moved through the video feeds again, still whispering to Jhalae. “Either way, they need rescuing. So if we figure out which group they belong to, we figure out a way to do that.”

“Ah… I see.” said Jhalae, nodding her head as she looked at the robots.

She looked back up to the robots wondering if she was going to get an answer.

Dani
CE
(Lol wrong sign… Haven’t done that in while lol)

The exchange between Dani and Jahlae occupied most of the robots extensive processing time. They responded. “They came from below. They initiated the signal. But there was no need for the signal, and venturing to the surface without permission is forbidden.”

-GM

Dani frowned. “Initialized the signal,” she glanced around them. “You mean the signal that brought us? How do you know for sure that there was no need of they came from below? And how is the signal triggered?” If they had to punch in a code, that was different than merely slamming your hand down on a button.

They pointed to a small keypad with a red transmit button under it. The protective plastic that had rested over it had been lifted.

Jahlae also frowned at the robots’ answer. Dani was right, if there was no need for the signal then why was it activated? She began to feel uneasy.

This was something the XO definitely needed to know. If someone from below had called them, she guessed there was a good reason. At least, to them there was. This didn’t seem like something a group, like those in the cage, would do on a whim, for kicks.

Dani

“Please don’t get us put in there.” BJ was as curious as everyone else. But, now wasn’t the time to create a diplomatic crisis.

Janzen

“What do you propose, then?” Jahlae whispered to Janzen, “Obviously there is something....not right here. I think those people are being held against their will and they may need help.”

Jack nodded “I concur, it would be preferable.”

Dr. Grey - CMO

Ynuchausti, Engineer

“The problem is we can’t simply assume that. The other problem is there are about 6 of us and how many of them? The odds are not in our favour.”

Janzen

-GM

Dani lifted her hands as if in surrender before slowly reaching down to push the cover closed over the button. “So they triggered the transmit button? Did none of them say why they did it? I just want to be sure we don’t make the same mistake… by accident of course.”

While awaiting the answer, Dani glanced over the board around the button to see if it gave any clue why the other folks would have risked their lives to push it.

Dani
CE/AI Spec

Dani suddenly saw rifles pointed at her. “Refrain from this action. Another transmission will not be tolerated.”

-GM

-bump-

“And this folks is why we don’t touch buttons unless told to.” BJ had to add this. He had been down this road before. The last time he had a tooth knocked out. For all the hockey he had played in his youth he hadn’t lost one until joining Starfleet. “We’re good here. No message was sent. No message will be sent.”

Janzen

Dani examined the controls further. “Look, it’s been deactivated.” She pressed the button. The robots took no chances. They fired.

Dani was gone…

-GM

OOC: This was done with the permission of Melissa.

Why does no one listen to me thought BJ. Once again, something bad had happened when someone touched something they shouldn’t have. At least these robots weren’t shooting at him yet. But he did wish people would actually listen to him when he says something.

OCC: Could you explain where you’d like me to go with this thread.

BJ

OOC: by this point, I was hoping for something to have progressed. We’re working on something to get this sim to its end.
