“Yes My husband as well He is your department head being the Chief Science officer But I also have family on Andoria and I have also lived on earth for a bit as well” she sighed as she continued to eat

Tralla

Aasrel nodded without responding. He had two siblings. His brother was in Starfleet as well. His sister was at home on Betazed, along with his parents. He hadn’t spoken or written to any of them since the incident with the Borg. He didn’t want them to see him this way. Didn’t want to talk to them without his telepathy. So he had avoided them.

He ate quietly for a few minutes, an intense look on his face, as if his meal were the most interesting thing he’d ever seen. It wasn’t, of course, he was just thinking hard. Finally, he asked, “How… how do you… I mean… Does life ever go back to normal?”

“To be honest Ensign…No it does not I still have nightmares where I am a drone and I am forced to Assimilate everyone I love and care about…But I am taking things one day at a time Talking about the experience with a counselor as well as other officers who have known the collective’s cruel hand helps” she said she continued to eat for a bit before changing the subject again “I read in your file you are a fighter and Shuttle Pilot That is something else you and I have in common I served aboard the USS Ark Angel back when she was a Mjolnir Class Carrier And If your a bit of an Adrenalin junkie like myself I will need to introduce you to my pride and joy the Flying Angel Class Racing Yacht!” she said giving him a smile

Aasrel seemed to deflate. The nightmares had been bad for him. The implants, assimilating his crew, even the rescue. The destruction of his ship. He hadn’t been aboard, but other Borg drones had been. He wanted them to stop.

He was sick of people telling him talking to counselors helped. It never felt like it helped. It made it worse, and it made the nightmares worse, too. But everyone kept telling him that. He was no stranger to hearing that talking to someone trusted about it, or someone who’s been through it would help, either, but he’d never been able to bring himself to do that, not even to the other thirteen crewmates from the Intrepid.

When she mentioned piloting however, Aasrel perked up and looked at her. He had been a pilot since Academy, though his skills had not come to much use in his career, not yet. “I am certified both as a fighter and shuttle pilot and it’s something I… I used to really like.” He had been having trouble, well… caring. About much of anything, the last few months, besides repairing his body.

“You fly a Flying Angel?” He had heard of the class. Never seen one himself though. Tralla, for what seemed like the first time in their conversation, had his full attention, for a good reason. “You’ve got to show it to me sometime!” Then he cleared his throat and and sat up straighter, “Ahem, I mean, I would love to see that craft, Captain.”

“Fly her....I Designed her! I was the one who came up with the design while serving as the Ark Angel’s Chief Engineer!” she laughed “Once your finished why not join me I need to do some maintenance on her so i can show you around” she said smiling at him knowing that getting his mind back on work would help things progress

A few minutes ago, Aasrel’s main goal was to survive this lunch, and then get away from the Captain and stay there. Now.... Implant captain versus cool shuttle. Part of him still wanted to just get away and sulk in his room. Part of him wanted to go see the shuttle and act like a kid at an air show.

For the first time in six months, kid at an air show Aasrel won that fight. “Alright. I have time today.” Honestly, all he planned to do was sulk in his room, which he was supposed to be trying not to do. He finished the remainder of his lunch in record time, finished off his drink, and sat quietly.
