<snip>Dr Ardel smiled and nodded. “Yes, we’re very proud of what we’ve been able to achieve so far, LENA has far exceeded our expectations on every level and she has shown the ability…”
Nalor cleared her throat and gently shook her head at Ardel. “Dr, I don’t think they are interested in our research, we have some more pressing matters to attend to,” she added sternly before turning back to the away team. “The station has been thoroughly searched and LENA has scanned every inch of the place but we still have no idea where our missing officers have gone.” She said solemnly, bringing the conversation back to the matter in hand.
Mother Hen (GM)
KT kept quiet for now just listening to the others. If she felt the need to chip in or if she was asked then she would speak. but for now she was content to sit back and listen after all missing people where not her forte.
Lieut KT-QT (CMO)
Aza remained attentive as Commander Nalor led them through the quiet corridors of Kabrel II. The atmosphere felt tense, and Aza couldn’t help but observe the weariness on the faces of Nalor and Dr. Ardel. She understood the gravity of the situation they were facing.
Entering the briefing room, Aza took a seat, positioning herself to have a clear view of the team and the room. She listened, her focus honed on gathering as much information as possible. Finding the missing officers was a priority, and her training and expertise would be put to the test. She kept her thoughts and concerns to herself for now, ready to contribute if necessary.
Aza, Security
OOC: I could have sworn I posted but whoops. This week should be less stressful. Only one can hope.
Lt Cmdr Donoghuei
XONalor sighed as she threw her padd down on the table in frustration. “Lt Cmdr Donoghuei, we would appreciate any assistance you could lend to try and find out what happened to our people? We have also been left without any medical staff and there is the unfortunate business of conducting an autopsy on Ensign Cade…” she added quietly as her and Dr Ardel shared a silent and solemn look.
Mother Hen (GM)
Ciaran thought for just a second on how to solve this problem and said, “Nalor, I do not see how we could not provide assistance on the autopsy. We have the medical staff to help you out. Do you believe it would be alright if we got Ensign Cade over to the Memorial to perform the autopsy there? Also, do we have any details on what was going on before the people went missing? Having some details would be a good start on hopefully finding these folks.” He looked over to the away team to see if the medical staff had any thoughts on the autopsy or the security team to help take this over. He believed with the correct details, it would not be too difficult to find the missing folks. He waited for a response.
Lt Cmdr Donoghuei
XONalor nodded solemnly. “Yes of course, you may transport her to your ship…” she replied as she bowed her head momentarily.
She ran her fingers through her hair and sighed with a shrug. “Nothing in particular, they were just monitoring Ensign Cade as far as I know. They have a couple of small projects on the go but nothing really of note. Dr Chen was working with LENA on some research looking into incorporating more advanced AI into nanotechnology to target specific conditions but it’s only theoretic at the moment. The nursing staff have been cataloging some of the local plant life. Nothing out of the ordinary really.” She added shaking her head. The whole situation had been baffling on many levels but until they knew what was going on she was concerned these would not be the last dissappearances.
“I can preform the autopsy either here or on the memorial. I can also send some foo my officers over to operate your sickbay if you need” KT said kindly and warmly “But I must ask. What happened to your ensign or rather how was he found?” she asked her tone still kind. Hearing of any one dying was sad but finding out it seemed to be under unknown circumstances was even more troubling.
Lieut KT-QT (CMO)
Nalor smiled warmly and nodded. “That would be most helpful, thank you. Ensign Cade was found unconscious on her way to the main laboratory, we don’t know what happened to her but she was completely unresponsive and in a coma when she was discovered.”
Mother Hen (GM)
NE Watson chimed in. “We’re part of the forensics team. We can take a look to see what evidence was left behind.
NE Watson (Janzen)
Ciaran looked up at Ensign Watson and said, “Yes, you will be able to help out with the discovery of what happened. Lets see if we can get any initial information before starting our investigation.” He then waited for a response about what information could be provided so if anything was already known, it could be used to give guidance to the investigation. Having some data up front would be ideal but not required. He just waited to see what the response was.
Lt Cmdr Donoghuei
XOCiaran though it was odd that she just collapsed while walking to the lab. He then said, “Do we have any scans of Cade before the collapse? Having some reference point of what was known and how Cade is after the fact might help? Also, was there any diseases or poisons being worked on in the lab that might have gotten loose and caused a problem for Cade? This might explain the sudden collapse.” He waited to hear a response. He was trying to get some ideas what might be able to be looked at in order to prevent more folks from having the same fate as Ensign Cade. He was hoping someone else would have some additional ideas.
Lt Cmdr Donoghuei
XOThe Trill Commander shook her head. “No, we don’t have anything in the lab that could cause that kind of reaction, we are almost exclusively looking into AI solutions and development. The medical team was working on cataloguing some local plant life but nothing that could trigger such a massive response. Ensign Cade is…was our only Betazoid team member but I can’t think that anything would affect her so dramatically but have no affect on the rest of the team.” Nalor replied shrugging her shoulders.
The Commander tapped a few buttons on the padd she was holding and slid it across the table to Lt KT-QT. “The only medical findings were a minor concussion although Dr Chen did note an elevated level of psilosynine in her paracortex that he couldn’t attribute to anything. Physically she was relatively unharmed however…” she started as she looked across to Dr Ardel.
Ardel sighed and shook his head. “She regained consciousness briefly in sickbay but she wasn’t herself… The last thing she said to me was ‘they’re coming’ before she slipped back into a coma.” He replied, his eyes welling up. Clearly the young Ensign had meant a lot to him. Shaking his head he got up and wandered over to a large porthole looking out across the surface of the planet. “It just makes no sense, my wife and I were talking to her right before it happened and she seemed fine…” he added, wearily rubbing his eyes.
Nalor gave Ardel a sympathetic smile. She knew he had barely slept in days, none of them had, and it was starting to take its toll on her staff. She would be glad when this nightmare was over. “Commander,” she said as she turned back to face Donoghuei. “We’re in your hands, what do you need from us? Dr T’Vor and Dr Ardel can show you what the teams have been working on?” She suggested, clearly feeling out of her depth.
As they began to formulate a plan of action, the familiar sound of a comm notification pinged in the air followed by a rather unexpected interruption. =^=…daddy?…=^= a young voice rang out through the room. Dr Ardel’s face flushed with momentary embarrassment at the sound of his 8 year old’s voice. He opened his mouth the apologise but Nalor shook her head. “Don’t worry Dr, attend to your daughter…” she said warmly as Ardel mouthed thank you and slipped out of the room.
——————————————————————————————
Ardel ducked round the corner and gritted his teeth as he tapped his comm badge to respond.=^= Malia? Sweetheart this is really naughty, you know you’re not allowed to use the comm system unless it’s an emergency. Whatever it is you need to ask mom…=^= he sighed. It wasn’t like Malia to break the rules but he knew she had noticed the changes in the teams behaviour in recent days and she was feeling very nervous.
=^=…she’s not here…is she with you? =^= the feeble voice replied with obvious fear in her little voice.
Daniel chuckled and shook his head. =^= Of course she’s there you silly sausage, put her on for me =^= he replied with a grin until the little voice started sobbing. =^= she’s not here daddy…we’re all alone! =^=
The colour drained from Daniel’s face as it sunk in what his daughter was saying. Jennifer would never leave their children alone, especially at a time like this. With a trembling hand he tapped his comm badge again.
=^= You and Jared stay right there sweetheart…I expect mom has just popped out for a minute…I’ll come and keep you company until she gets back…you call me back if anything changes before I get back =^= he replied, hoping his little girl didn’t pick up on the fear in his voice.
Malia sniffed and nodded to herself, looking across at her little brother who was playing with his spaceships. =^= Ok daddy… =^= she said softly as she went to sit down and play with Jared. As soon as the call finished, Daniel spun on his heel and dashed back into the briefing room.
——————————————————————————————
Dr Ardel burst back through the door of the room, his face ashen white. “My wife is gone!!” He cried, unable to contain his panic.Mother Hen (GM)
Aza’s heart sank as Dr. Ardel rushed back into the briefing room with panic written all over his face. Quickly regaining her composure, Aza rose to her feet, her training kicking in as she took charge of the situation.
“Commander Nalor, we’ll do everything we can to help locate your missing officers and Dr. Ardel’s wife,” Aza said, her voice steady and reassuring. “First, let’s focus on gathering all available information.
Ciaran hopefully did not have a odd look on his fact with the comment from the Jo as it seemed a little out of place for her to make the decision about seemingly to take control. He did not say anything and just let Aza have it.
Turning to Lt Cmdr Donoghuei, she continued, “Commander, I suggest we coordinate with the forensics team to analyze any evidence left behind in Ensign Cade’s quarters and the laboratory. I also want to review the surveillance footage, both from the ship and the station, to see if there’s anything unusual leading up to her collapse. Afterwards I will conduct a thorough sweep of the entire station. Check every nook and cranny, and ensure we don’t miss any clues or hidden areas. Finally we need to also find out if there were any unauthorized access attempts to the station’s systems.”
Ciaran thought for just a second before responding and then said, “Yes, I agree with your idea Ensign Aza. I believe gathering as much data as possible is very important.” He then looked over at Nalor and asked, “Do we know what race both the people who are suddenly missing are? It might be something attacking a specific race potentially? Since we know the one known dead officer was Betazoid, is the wife of the missing officer Betaziod as well? Just a thought.” He was thinking maybe there was some relationship between the two but was unsure. It was information which would need to be discovered.
Nalor cast a quick look to Dr Ardel as he paced the back of the room before shaking her head. “No, Jennifer is human and the medical team comprises of two humans, a Vulcan and a Benzite. Ensign Cade was our only Betazoid crew member…” she looked back at Ardel again. She knew that he was worried about his family but at the same time he was one of her most experienced and knowledgeable officers. She turned back to Donoghuei and motioned for him to join her. “A word Commander?” She asked as she moved out of ear shot to the far side of the room.
“I realise this is highly unorthodox but I would like to bring Dr Ardel’s children to join us here. I need Daniel to remain focussed on solving this mystery and he won’t be able to if he’s worrying about his family. Besides which, the children may have seen or heard something around the time of Jennifer’s disappearance.” She knew this would break several regulations but she was running out of options fast.
Ciaran followed the commander to the side of the room and listened. He then replied quietly, “I agree with you on that. Also, on a side note, have you all performed an external scan to see what might have happened the the crew members? I know it all goes through the computer AI but not sure what all you have accomplished. If I am out of line, please let me know. Just trying to provide some additional ideas.” He then waited to see with the Commander was going to say and see how long it was before we moved to the table.
Lt Cmdr Donoghuei
Nalor sighed and nodded. “Of course, we’ve scanned every inch of the base and the rest of the planet but LENA can detect no sign of them, they’ve just vanished…” she replied as she shrugged her shoulders in despair.
She looked over at Ardel and gave him a sympathetic smile before tapping her comm badge. =^= Nalor to Lt Patel, please escort Dr Ardel’s children to the briefing room. =^= she ordered as she watched Daniel breathe a sigh of relief. =^= Understood Commander, =^=
Aza knew that time was of the essence, and with Commander Nalor and her team’s emotions running high, they needed a calm and focused approach. She continued, “Commander Nalor, if you can provide us with a list of personnel who had access to sensitive areas on the station, it’ll help us prioritize our investigation. Additionally, if there’s any personnel with unusual behavior or someone new to the team, we should investigate that as well.”
Aza, Security
Lt Cmdr Donoghuei
XONalor nodded and tapped a few buttons on her console. The pixelated face of LENA appeared before them once again.
~ How can I be of assistance Commander? ~ the AI replied expectantly.
“LENA, I need you to assist Ensign Aza in her investigations, you are to provide any details she needs regarding the personnel of this station.” Nalor requested with a nod to Aza.
~ Understood Commander, perhaps you would like to start in the lab Ensign? ~ LENA replied - clearly she had been monitoring the conversation.
Mother Hen (GM)
OOC: I’m hoping Mother Hen will be back soon. Waiting on an update here from Her.

Aza acknowledged LENA’s suggestion with a nod and turned back to Commander Nalor. “Thank you, Commander. I’ll start with the lab and then move on to Ensign Cade’s quarters. LENA, please provide me with a list of all personnel who had access to the lab and their recent activities. Focus on any unusual behavior or new additions to the team.”
As she waited for the information from LENA, Aza turned to Ciaran and said, “Commander Donoghuei, it’s not out of line at all. In fact, an external scan of the station and the surrounding area is an excellent idea. Let’s coordinate with the ship’s sensors to perform a thorough scan and see if we detect anything unusual.”
With the investigation plan set in motion, Aza was determined to find out what had happened to Ensign Cade and Dr. Ardel’s wife. She knew that time was critical, and she would use every resource available to bring them back safely. She began to feel the weight of responsibility on her shoulders, however she knew her commanding officer Lieutenant Beckett would be proud of how she was handling her security duties on the Kabrel, she hoped Commander Donoghuei would put in a good word for her with Lieutenant Beckett after they were back on the Memorial.
Aza, Security
LENA’s holographic face shimmered as she recalled the information which subsequently appeared on the padd in front of Aza, along with a map to the science lab.
Mother Hen (GM)
OOC: I am not seeing the external scan being done so I am going to ask LENA to do it. If its already been done, I am sorry.
Ciaran looked up at the Commander and nodded. He then said to LENA, “LENA, can we go ahead and do that external scan to see if anything shows up? We might just be looking at the scan data from the wrong prospective and having the same thing done by the Memorial would be a good idea as well to compare data.” He then waited for a response from the computer. In the mean time, he went ahead and hit is comm badge and said, =/\=”Commander Donoghuei to the Memorial, I am going to be having the station do a scan on the exterier of the station. Can you please run the same thing from your end so we can compare data to potentially find what happened to the missing crew? Donoghuei Out.”=/\= He then also waited for a response from the Memorial.
Lt Cmdr Donoghuei
XOAza reviewed the list of personnel and activities, noting a few individuals whose recent behavior seemed slightly unusual. She made a mental note to interview them later. With a map of the station on her PaDD she said, “I’d like to make some rounds on the station. If that is okay with everyone.”
Aza, Security
OOC: I would love to have an update from the Memorial if possible. Someone from the bridge that is able to do a scan. Thank you.
[bump]
Lt Cmdr Donoghuei
XOIC: LENA brought up the latest scans from the planet and displayed them on the screen in front of them. As they would see, apart from the scientists present and the away team, no other humanoid life forms could be found.
~I have run extensive scans of the base and the planet, the missing personnel are not found on this planet ~ LENA replied.
Mother Hen (GM)
Ciaran thought for a second and this was not specifically what he wanted to have scan. He then said to LENA, “LENA, are you able to scan around the station/base instead of scanning the base itself and the planet? I think something is missing by these very precise scans which you are running. Please let me know.”
Lt Cmdr Donoghuei
XO=^=”Commander we are a little busy holding off a Keldon Class cruiser and its fighter escort at the moment! As soon as we get a chance we will try to assist”=^= came the Curt reply of the captain it seemed things were a little intense
KG
Ciaran thought to himself, ‘keeping safe is more important than the scan. He did not want to see any harm to the Memorial.’ He then responded, =/\=Understood. Donoghuei out=/\=. He then look at LENA and asked, “Is there anything we can do here to help out? Does this station have any weapons which could assist if they are within range?” He then waited for a response from LENA.
Lt Cmdr Donoghuei
XOOOC; I am going to create an post mission post to be able to post. I am waiting on the GM at this point for the response from LENA.
[bump for the GM]
Lt Cmdr Donoghuei
XONE Watson waited to see if they could start investigating. He figured there must be a reasonable idea of what happened.
NE Watson (Janzen)
OOC: So no one ever answered my question. I am just going to try to proceed the best I can.
IC: Aza glanced at the map on her PaDD, taking in the layout of the station. She replied, ” I’ll begin my rounds, and I’ll make sure to interview those individuals I mentioned earlier.” With a nod, she turned and headed for the door, her security team falling into step behind her.
Aza, Security
OOC: I was waiting on a response from the GM but this is fine.
Ciaran nodded at Aza as she left. He went ahead and looked over to NE Watson and said, “You can go ahead and start making your rounds. Please take note of everything you hear. I will provide additional data as I have it from the Memorial. Stay safe and try not to scare anyone, especially the younger folks.” He then looked back to see if he had gotten any information from the Memorial. He was curious what was going on with the Memorial. It was hard not being there but he knew the importance of being here and trying to help find the missing folks.
OOC: I am going to post on the bridge so I can see what the status is.
