I’m sure they don’t mind too much. Adjustment takes time, some longer than others. Perhaps you could work something out with the CMO? See if you could spent a bit of time each week with the medical officers. That way you can continue helping out with what you love, while still adjusting to your newer role of being in Command of a.. much larger personnel base.

Jade shook her head “Impossible i have to mush work to do as the XO. I can’t just work in sickbay i have so many other duties to attend to. I have to spend all my on duty time doing the jobs my position dictates. The when i’m off duty the last thing i want to do is more work.” She said truthfully.

Cmdr Jones (XO)

Lissan glanced skeptically across the desk, but chose not to argue. Leaning back in resignation, she clasped her hands over her stomach. “What do you do for fun, Jones?” She asked, her voice dropping to a monotonous drumm.

Dr. Lissan

Jade thought for a moment. it was a strange topic to jump to. However she was glade for the change of topic “I paint, I go to the holodeck and use flight simulators, i was a pilot before i became a doctor. It was what i original joined star fleet for. Other then that i just enjoy reading and using other holo programs. Nothing to exciting.” she said not sure what else to tell the CNS. that was all she relay did aside form chat with the crew and message Mia.

Cmdr Jones (XO)

That sounds.. I’m sorry, that sounds really boring.” Lissan returned, bluntly. “Jones, I don’t normally perscribe anything in the first vist– I find it isn’t enough time to really get to know a person. But you, my dear Commander, are a unique case.” She pulled her PaDD from the side of the desk, “Your regimen is simple: I want you to take fifteen minutes a day, to begin with, and do something you love. Whether that’s painting or going to that simulation or chatting with your daughter–I don’t care. Just take some time for yourself.” She smiled, “You deserve it.

Dr. Lissan, CNS

Jade leaned forward “Boring to you perhaps but i enjoy it.” She said simply. “Would you ask a Vulcan to not meditate because it was boring?” she asked it was hard to tell if she was being serious or not. However Jade was indeed being playful although she wanted to see the CNS would pick it up or not.

Cmdr Jones (XO)

<BUMP>

If it had to do with their health, sure would.” She grinned, but she was only half joking with her. “Besides, I’m sure Vulcans have a way of spicing up mediation.” She mused.

Dr. Lissan
CNS

Jade scoffed “you haven’t met many Vulcans then. Thier idea of spicing up their meditation would be finding an even quieter room.” She said simply.

From what I hear, silence can be deafening.” She remarked, knowing all too well the power of silence. “It’s a wonder they can stand a quieter room.

“We’ve talked about what i do for fun but what do you do?” she asked

Cmdr Jones (XO)

Hiking, swimming, kyacking–anything outdoors.” Lissan informed her with a slight smile, “You would not believe some of the views you can find from the summits of Andorian’s mountains.. if you can stand the cold for long enough to reach their peaks.” Zenobia was an oddity in more ways than one, and it became more obvious with every word she spoke. “I’ve also looked into piloting classes as well, but I think I’ll have to refine these guys a little more before that happens.” She gestered to the areas where her ears should have been.

“Oh i can. I’ve been to andoria many times. My first husband,m Mia’s after was Andorian. I took Mia there a few times to get to know her heritage.” Jade said a smile on her face “They views are truly stunning” she added.

Really? I’m glad to know I’m not the only hybrid Andorian around here.” Lissan winked, playfully. “That they are. Especially when the evening washes over and you can catch the faintest glimpse of Andor hanging in the sky, watching over its moon.

Jade nodded in agreement “The universe is full of amazing sights like that.” she said agreeing with the CNS

Have you ever taken your daughter out hiking or rock climbing?” She was curious what Jade and her daughter did during their time together (And she wanted to get the conversation off of her). “Holodeck or reality, it doesn’t matter.

Dr. Lissan
CNS

Jade nodded “My family home, Edge Hill manor. In England is in the hills. so we would go walking up and around the hills when i got shore leave. Sometimes my mother, my father, me and Mia would all go for a walk and have a pick nick above the house on top of one of those hills. Times like that are rare my mother is busy with her duties as an admiral, my Father with is an ambassador and I’m a career officer. So when we get those rare moments together it fantastic.” she said the smile getting bigger on her face.

Cmdr Jones (XO)

The life of any officer is hard and allots for such little time to be spent with family. You have to make with what you got, but it’s great to hear your family tries to come together here and there, despite the difficulty in doing so.” She watched as the smile took over Jones’ face, one of her own quickly following. “What’s your favourite memory of you four?

Dr. Lissan
CNS

Jade thought for a few moments “It would be the day my other came home. Her tactical fleet had been sent to investigate the disappearance of a star base. They arrived and the starbase had been destroyed. In the battle that followed two of the five ships where destroyed and rumor was that the flag ship, my mother ship had received several direct hit, one impacting the bridge or at least very close to it. You know that sort of thing can happen but when it’s your mother, you find it hard to accept it.” she paused for a moment “I came home and me, Mia and my father waited for news. it seemed like days and days. Then there was a knock at the door. we opened it and my mother was there, her arm in a sling. We hugged and cried and sad we love each other. We had dinner that day and we where like a regular family laughing, joking. just being a family. My family has always been so rigid with the high position of my parents it’s expected we act like that. But that day there was none of that we didn’t care. we where all safe and it was great” Jade added. she had to admit it was a strange choice but to her all those emotion and the time she spent with her family, made it her most fond memory.

Cmdr Jones (XO)

Lissan did not find her choice strange. A memory was a memory, and whether it was interpreted with a single emotion or many was up to the mind of the beholder. Considering Jones’ family, it did not surprise Zenobia of her choice. When bonds were shaky, moments of normalcy were to be treasured, love rekindled after time where it threatened to collapse in favour of rigidity and honour. “That is beautiful, Commander.” Lissan admitted, detangling her fingers. “Funny how the most disasterous events bring us closer to the people we hold most dear.” She mused, rhetorically. “You hinted something like this was hard to come by. Do you mind explaining why? Your parents seemed people to aspire to be, did their status affect you?

Dr. Lissan, CNS

“Their status, my family legacy and how i was expected to be just like them.” Jade said simply “My mother was away a lot sorting out one problem or another, my father was away doing the same. I’m an only child i didn’t really have anyone. I was either on a diplomatic ship or my mothers ship. I was born in space. However as things got more and more dangerous i spent less and less time with them. They missed large chunks of my life. They congratulated me on joining star fleet via sub space.” She said as she laughed sadly and softly. “Then when i joined the academy everyone knew who i was and who my parents where. They knew i was the daughter of two of the most decorated people in the entire federation. They seemed to revier me. They kept away thinking i was too high up the food chain for the likes of them. I was put on a pedestal on the first day and it was very lonely. It wasn’t their fault it was a side effect of their jobs. But not seeing my parents in person and not having any friends was hard.” she said. It was clear she didn’t blame her parents.

It can be difficult surviving in a place where you feel lonely, despite being surrounded by people.” Lissan stifled a soft sigh. “People do not often intend to be rude or cruel with their actions. Many times they do not realise that their avoidance of someone they fear is doing harm to that person. They feel a sense of inadequacy in knowing your parents are decorated Starfleet officers, when many of theirs had no affiliation with Starfleet or were general officers. It is natural to feel this way, but that doesn’t make it easier on you.” She paused, “Was anyone unbothered by your family?

“There was only one person who decided to take the chance and talk to me. A’lec. He came walking over one day, sat next to me and started talking to me like we had been friends for years. He didn’t care who i was or who my parents where. He too was a loner, one of the only four Andorians that year at the academy. His parents where traditionalists and distrusted the federation and Andoria’s place in it. So when he joined star fleet he was all but disowned. He was the light in the darkness. It sounds silly now, i was so alone that just one person talking to me felt like all my Christmas’s had come at once. That was the effect crushing loneliness ” she said a sad smile on her face.

Cmdr Jones (XO)

It isn’t silly. Humans crave attention and companionship as most other complex beings do. He was an outlet for you, someone you could care for..whether that be in friendship or romance.” She assured. “He was there for you when everyone else turned the other cheek in fear for how you might act. With how lonely it seemed you were, he could have easily been the beacon of light that inhibited some unpleasant possibilities for your future. If anything, you shouldn’t find it silly, but be grateful that he could do so much for you without doing anything at all.” Lissan smiled, tapering off. “Do you have anyone now? Besides Mia.
