There was no one there to greet him except the crewman manning the controls in the transporter room. Solar tapped his Comm badge =/\= Computer, Locate Chief Science Officer =/\=
The comm badge beeped as the male voice of the ENTITY AI spoke, =E= The Chief Science Officer is currently located in his office, adjacent to the Main Science Lab, on Deck 10. If you would not mind Ensign Solar, in the future please refer to my current chosen identity as Coral or ENTITY if you prefer. Is there anything else I can help you with then? =E= It asked/requested
Meanwhile, Wendell was in his science office. The door to his office led directly to the main lab.The bulkhead on that side was transparent. He could see everything that was going on in the lab, and anyone in the lab could also see anything going on in his office. There was nobody in the lab itself at the time.
His office had his comfy chair with a typical desk that also had an LCARS interface on it, with a flat screen display. Two comfy guest chairs faced his desk from the other side. And he had access to a working replicator as well. Several data padds were scattered on the desk.
To this, Wendell said, “Computer! Give me a large coffee, with sugar and creamer.”
A swirl from the desk replicator materialized a cup of coffee with sugar and cream, =E= One coffee with sugar and cream as requested Lieutenant Wendell. Is there anything else? And if you do not mind please I would ask if you could call me by my name Coral or ENTITY. =E= It said the AI interface display by the projection system showing its avatar popping up nearby on the desk. The small blue-silver toned shape of a for now sex-less humanoid bald head on display. Showing the AI was still developing its personality and chosen shape of avatar. How the crew may or not interact with it would to some degree reflect these changes, though never to the point where it would endanger the crew or ship given its safeguards put in place.
“Oh?” Wendell pondered. “Sorry, I had forgotten that you were online. Say, you shouldn’t refer to me by my rank. Of Lt. Cmdr. Simply Wendell will do. I’m much more a scientist than I ever was a military type. “
