A blast struck the side of the memorial, carving loose more of the damaged hull that a previous attack had caused. Alarms blared as crew members tried to evacuate the deck and get away from the rapidly depressurizing holes to the void. One NE found his leg trapped under a piece of rubble, unable to lift it by himself. If nothing was done, then he would soon be claimed by the void.

As the lighting switched to emergency modes, Tor and a team of damage control engineers arrived to deal with the depressurizing sections. Seeing the NE trapped, Tor shouted through the acrid smoke of burning conduits and popping power relays. “NE Mactavish, NE Ricemuller! Give me a hand!” and he ran to the trapped figure. “Easy, my man. We’ll get you out of there.” the big blue Chief Engineer said as calmly as he could. Mactavish and Ricemuller went to either side of the big Bolian and, wedging the pry-bars they carried underneath and trying to lift the rubble off the NE’s leg. Tor grabbed the man under the arms and, as the two engineers levered up the debris, attempted to pull the man free.

The man let out a cry of pain as the piece slowly lifted up, but luckily for him, it was just high enough that Tor was able to barely slide him out from underneath. Nearby an exposed panel sparked dangerously close to some exposed wires, and the emergency shield emitters for some reason were not activating to prevent air from leaving the ship.

Your Bestest Friend (GM)

OOC: Hope I’m ok to jump in here?

IC: =^= Ensign Naktal to Lt Tor, I’m getting reports of damage in your area, do you require any medical assistance? =^=

Ensign Naktal (Doctor)

Tor slammed his combadge =/\= We have injured in this area, yes. Medevac units will hold until we can get the emergency shield emitters online. =/\= and he looked at his two engineers, his face uncharacteristically solemn. =/\= Computer, evacuate all areas adjacent to hull breach and seal emergency bulkheads around hull breach section and all adjacent sections. =/\= and he looked at the injured crewman. “Ok, I gotta makes sure we don’t suffocate. Be right back. ” and he went the nearest access control panel and began running a diagnostic on the emergency response systems. As he did, he shouted to his aides “Damage control. Get the sparks down and the fires out. And see if you can see why the shield emitters aren’t online from that end.”

Tor, CE

Lari looked across at Grey who was busy with a patient so tapped her comm badge in response. =/\= Acknowledged Lt, we’re on our way. =/\= she replied. She turned on her heels and grabbed her emergency supplies. “Rodgers, Morgan, get a stretcher, you’re with me, Nurse Riley see if Dr Grey needs assistance then help Dr Copeland prepare for more incoming casualties, I doubt these will be the only ones,” she ordered as she slung her kit on her shoulder with a newfound decisiveness as she turned to the CMO. “Dr Grey, they have casualties on deck 5, I’m taking a team to retrieve them!” she barked, not really waiting for a response as the trio quickly made their way out of sickbay and headed for deck 5.

As they approached the damaged section, Lari put her hand up to stop her two colleagues and tapped her comm badge again. =/\= Naktal to Tor, we’re just outside your section, let me know when the shield emitters are stable. =/\= she hollered over the noise then turned to the two medics. “I’m presuming you’d rather not suffocate?” she asked with a hint of a grin. Although emergency medicine could be an intense and harrowing experience, Lari had to admit she did get a bit of a thrill out of being in the midst of the action.

Ensign Naktal (Doctor)

Part of the emergency shield emitters were fried. Although power was being supplied, it was cut off from the emitters by other some breaks in the circuits, or fused metal directing the current to other systems.

Your Bestest Friend (GM)

“Ok. We don’t have time to replace the emitters themselves, but we can bypass the damaged circuits and fused sections and then use the power coming in to power up the remaining emitters and run then at full power. Let’s get on that and see if we can compensate for the damaged ones by remodulating the field areas, see if we can overlap the weak areas. For now, we need to evacuate every single person from the effected areas.” Tor puled up the damage reports from his PaDD and then entered mandatory evacuation orders for the effected areas. He tapped his comms and said =/\= Medical. Prepare for injured from damaged areas. Damage control teams initiating emergency evacuation and casualty transport immediately. Request medical teams to all emergency assembly areas asap.=/\=

Tor, CE

As Lari heard the comm, she quickly responded. =/\= Medical here, we’re just outside your area and setting up triage, send the first patients through when you’re ready =/\= she replied as the two medics scrambled to get the area ready. Lari quickly prepared her emergency supplies as she waited for the first casualties to arrive.

Ensign Naktal (Doctor)

=/\= Copy. =/\= was all the blue CE responded. Looking at his Damage Control team, he yelled out “Whats the status on those emmitters?”

Tor, CE

Stragglers from the damaged areas started to slowly make their way over. Some were coughing from smoke inhalation, while others sported wounds ranging from minor to major. Meanwhile some of the engineers started to try and patch things up. Although there were many hands, all would be needed to sort this out. While one such person was working on restoring the shields, the panel in front of him sparked dangerously, causing him to fall back with a cry of pain.

bump and a little bit added

Lari quickly dashed across to the engineer and knelt down beside him, flipping her tricorder out to scan his injuries. As she waited for the results she loaded a hypospray with Kelotane and administered it to the engineer to help with the pain. “It’s ok, I’ve got you…” she said in a soothing tone as she assessed the damage.

bump

Tor worked as quickly as he could, mindful of monitoring power surges as couplings were cobbled together piece-meal. Finally, a low hum issued forth form his panel and the relays showed forty-eight percent power; less than he hoped for, but enough for the emergency fields to activate. As the atmosphere began building in the affected areas, he looked back at Naktal. “Doc! Get your EMS teams inside! We have the emergency fields on line, but I can’t guarantee they won’t fail again. And what can we do to help you?”

Tor, CE

As the medics whisked the engineer off to the overflow sickbay, Lari wiped the sweat off her brow as she grabbed her medkit and dashed inside. “Baker! Jenson! You’re with me!” she hollered as she made her way over to Tor followed by a young nurse and medic. “Thank you Lt, we’ll be as quick as we can, you can help us by clearing any debris you can, we’ll need a hand moving patients as well, I don’t want them in here any longer than they have to be. Do any of your staff have any medical training?” she asked as she made her way over to the first casualty.

Dr Naktal

“Basic first aid and CPR, just what they taught in the Academy and what we have to refresh on.” he said with a grunt as he moved a large piece of ceiling panel out of the way to one of the injured. “But we’ll help however we can.”

Tor, CE

Lari nodded as she handed a couple of tricorders out to the engineering staff. She quickly flipped another open and held it up to the engineering team. “What would be really helpful is if you could scan the wounded,” she said as she pointed to several areas of the display. “If this, this or this flashes red, give me a shout,” she added as she handed the last one out. It was hardly going to be a thorough examination but at the very least they could help her determine the most critical patients. She quickly wiped a bead of sweat from her forehead as she knelt down next to a nearby patient and began to scan.

Dr Naktal

The patient had a huge gash along one arm, most likely from the bloody piece of metal that stuck out from the wall beside them. He looked at the doctor, his breathing shallow and eyes wide. He looked as though he was trying to say something, but only gasps exited his mouth.

Your Bestest Friend (GM)

As the power slowly moved through the makeshift relays and the atmosphere stabilized, Tor moved to the injured man. “Heya, buddy. What brings a nice guy like you here?” and he glanced down at the arm and whistled softly. “Now that’s gonna take a minute or two to heal, I think.” and he reached into the Engineering kit and pulled out the first aid box. Retrieving the emergency dressing he held it over the bloody gash and said “Ok, now this is really gonna hurt a lot.” and before the man could protest he clamped down on the wound as hard as he could to apply pressure.

Tor, CE and Fledgling Field Surgeon

Bump

Lari couldn’t help but be impressed by Tor’s calmness & efficiency dealing with their patient. Satisfied that he had it under control, she opened her medkit and pulled out a hypospray, loading it with a hefty dose of Bicaridine to ease the officer’s pain. She pressed it into his neck and watched the young man relax as the pain killer got to work. She scanned him quickly for any other injuries and then nodded to Tor. “May I?” she asked as she gently lifted the dressing to examine the wound. “Thank you Lt, if you can just keep the pressure on for a moment,” she replied as she reached for an autosuture as it was a large wound. As she prepared the instrument she smiled at Tor. “If you ever fancy a change of career, you’d make a good doctor,” she chuckled as she moved the dressing and began to suture the wound.

Dr Naktal

Keeping pressure on the wound, Tor chuckled a bit and said “Doc, if I change careers you will find me in a well appointed kitchen surrounded by herb gardens… not in a sickbay a million kilometers form nowhere.” with a broad smile.

Tor, CE

Lari chuckled as she finished suturing the wound and gave him another quick scan to check for any other injuries. Satisfied that he was out of danger for now, she waved a medic over to transfer him to the emergency overflow and began looking around for the next patient. “A kitchen huh? You like to cook?” she asked as they made their way over to another injured crewman.

Dr Naktal

As Lari made her way to the next wounded crew, Tor moved just past her and ran a tricorder across a panel just behind the fallen man. From the scorch marks around the panel, he could tell that an overload blew out the relays and probably gave the passing individual a solid shock. “Check him for burns and such, Doctor. Dollars to donuts he took a pretty good shock as he came by here.” and he pulled the panel an began assessing. This was one of the segments the Damage Control Team had bypassed, and it was good they had. Tor saw blow relays and a melted coupling inside the panel and swore. “Completely fried.” and he turned his attention to Lari and the injured. “Hope we don’t have to say the same for him.” and he knelt down to lend assistance. “And yep. Love to cook. Built a kitchen in Engineering, as a matter of fact.” he said. His tone was as if Tor was having a friendly conversation and the chaos around them didn’t even exist.

Tor, CE

The man who had been shocked had serious burns along his arm, and the tricorder detected fluctuating nerve activity in one part of their spine. Pus oozed out of a hole that was melted in his skin for the electricity, and he was barely breathing.

Your Bestest Friend (GM)

As Lari looked over the scans, she pulled out a tub of dermaline gel and handed it to Tor. “Please could you apply a thin layer over the burn but not on the wound?” she asked, hoping that he wasn’t too squeamish. She quickly loaded a hypospray with Corophizine & Morphenolog and pressed it into the man’s neck, hoping to stave off any infection he might have brewing from the wound. Keeping an eye on his vitals, she loaded another hypospray with Trioxin to try and ease his breathing then took another scan to see if he had improved.
