Charles Mudd turned, “..Hmm, well how about the labs? Seems as good a place as any for any sort of scans your science officer wants to do?” He offered.
Tera nodded and quickly ran a hand through her hair just in case there were any lingering rain drops. She decided to leave her notebook stowed for the moment. This particular Governor might not appreciate her being obvious with her observations.
“I’d love to take a look at your lab, Sir,” Wendell said. “I’m Lt. Cmdr. Wendell Vaughn Chief Science Officer on the Memorial. This is one of my eager Junior Science Officers, Ensign Tanaka.” He waved to an Oriental human female.
“I love your weather, by the way. It’s a good thing that our equipment’s durable,” he added.
Jozan followed along silently for the moment until Vaughn brought up the equipment. “How is your equipment holding up in this weather?” He asked curiously.
“Well enough, Lieutenant,” Wendell acknowledged. “Although all of our gear should be rated to handle planetary survival specifications, it may be a good idea for us to run a routine diagnostics on them after exposure to the weather here.”
As the group would exit a turbolift into a lower area, Mudd finally got to replying. “..The equipment is holding up quite well actually! When the colony got first setup some years ago we were in a period of ‘lull’ for the major storms we’re seeing now. So we had to adapt the equipment using our industrial replicators to stand up to the punishments you see now. Thankfully there havent been any major injuries so far, the heavy weather forcefields around the colony proper do a good job of keep folks safe, though as you saw do a poor job of keeping us dry when we got to go out there!” he said with a mirthful chuckle.
Rounding to the left on a small curved hall they came to a lab door marked, ‘Geology Lab 1 - Dr Phillips’, which denoted its function and the assumingly lead researcher for it. “..Doctor Phillips is inside last I checked, she can give you access to the colony scans or diagnostics you may need. Want me to wait here or go on in with you?” he inquired.
“As you will, Sir,” Wendell said. He had already forgotten Mudd’s title. But he didn’t eant to embarrass the man by asking him outright.
He politlely knocked on the door to the geology lab to announce his presence before entering.
