NE Newman came into the security office carrying her daughter.
“We need some help!” She said loudly. Her husband came in behind holding a teddy bear and trying desperately to soothe their child, who was sniffling and had obviously been crying. The girl grabbed the bear from his hand and threw it at him. For a plush toy it made a pretty solid “thwok” sound as it bounced off his head.
“NO!” She screamed. “I WANT SHAUNNNNNN!” She broke into another loud wail.

Lt. Zero Rushed out from his office rushed out from his office “I am Lt. Zero the COS Of this vessel can I help you”

Lt. Zero (COS)

“Oh thank goodness,” NE Newman said as she continued to try to soothe her child.
“Our daughter’s pet has gone missing,” her husband said as he retrieved the teddy bear. It had a heart shaped nose, and Zero could see a matching red welt rising in the middle of his forehead.

Zero raised an eyebrow “your pet......what pet is it”
He said as he relaxed he can put one of the SO on this job.

“Uhm…” The husband fidgeted uncomfortably.
“We don’t really know what it is, actually…” NE Newman explained. The child in her arms turned to face Zero, her face was bright red with several tears running down her chubby cheeks.
“S-Shaun,” she whimpered. She held out a hand toward Zero.
“It’s sort of a slime,” Newman said as she looked at her daughter. “What is it?” The girl turned her hand over, revealing a ball of paper clutched tightly in her fist. Newman took the paper and then deftly adjusted her hold on her daughter so she could uncrumple the sheet. “That’s it,” she said as she passed Zero the paper. It was a child’s drawing of a smiling green figure in a bowl. Her husband looked at it and frowned.
“She has dozens of drawings of it smiling, or looking like a cube. But every time we’ve seen it, it’s just been a puddle of green goo in a bowl. I’ve tried to get rid of it since she brought it home when we were stationed on Zeta Serpentis, but she insists it’s her pet. She’s even tried to feed it Fruit Loops,” he said sounding exasperated.

Zero had a bad feeling about this “did it eat anything” he asked to see if they was any danger to the crew or to the ship”
