Isaac was back at his tactical station “sir I do have an idea. If we use several high-yield explosives and explode them right at the event Horizon the explosion might have enough force to close the hole” he said (This theory has been proven to close wormholes and Black holes)

Lt. Isaac Black (AC)

[o] Working on it! [c] She may have sounded snappy there. El paused and took a breath. [c] Captain, that ship is sending out a subspace wave almost like a comms signal that is opening and burrowing into subspace. We’ve got about 3 minutes before it hits a size that might be … bad. [c] Well that sounded dramatic and totally without evidence. [o] It is pushing out a lot of power via those lights to do this. I’m trying to create a counter wave to nullify theirs. [c] Voices were in the background, and El paused her report momentarily [o] To do this we need to flicker the warp bubble and focus the energy through the warp nacelles – more or less a match of what that ship was built to do but what we’re improvising. It is risky ..

At that point Reginaldm a Lt in Engineering, could be heard, a clipped British baritone, “Are you crazy!? You’ll kill us all! The ship is not designed to do that. Do not initiate that, Ensign!” [c] The comms closed.

“I would have to agree with that assessment,” Jonathan said having heard the end of the conversation when he had finally arrived at the bridge after seeing their guests off. “Maybe not kill us all, but the ship is definitely not designed to handle the stress of flickering our warp bubble. Especially at the frequency that I’m sure she was anticipating.”

Looking at the viewscreen Jonathan had to suppress a shutter. The last thing they needed was an open portal into subspace, who knows where that would actually lead.

“Any chance of us shutting it down at the source? I haven’t had a chance to look into that ship. I hate to jump to the explosive option, but we probably don’t have a lot of time to work through options.”

Cmdr. McKnight - XO

Lt. Isaac was confused of what the CE was saying. The flickering of the warp bubble Will do nothing of a hole in sub space. The word bubble or Warfield only manipulates time space not sun space but he will keep this to himself for know.

Lt. Isaac Black (AC)

OOC: Actually just to clarify ooc a warp field does interact with subspace to some degree, though you are right that NORMALLY a normal warp bubble/pulse would not work on the frequency of a powerful subspace comm (different tones) given that engineering is adjusting for this fact it would work in my book :) if anything Issac would be easily able to say and know as i indicated earlier that given the alien metals the structure is made of they simply lacked the power and tech to damage it physically. In addition spatial and photonic torps equally would not effects the subspace rift opening as they dont match the harmonics that are being used, they’re far too different, plus to collapse said anomaly you’d need something of much later era tech like a quantum torpedo, again all of which i hinted at and/or said in some post or another in the past to your armory guy of what he read/would know

Ari nodded to Jonathan. “I’m inclined to agree with you. I think we should try something less detrimental to us to begin with.” Tapping the comm again, she hailed engineering. [O] Engineering .. We’re gonna try a couple things up here first. But I’m case they don’t work, I want a more definitive answer than ‘it may work out it may blow us up’. [O] There was an edge of a nervous laugh to her words. [O] Stand by and we’ll let you know how this works. Bridge out. [C]

“All right, let’s try this two fold. I want firing solutions for both a detonation on the event horizon and an explosion just forward of the ship. A spatial on the tear, and a photon across the bow. Perhaps the two will be enough to make someone jump enough to let off their button, as well as collapse what they’re already creating. Tactical, get targets to both and lemme know when you’re ready. We need to do this as quick as possible, people!”

She glanced from the Science Station, where she still stood, to the XO. “Our guests get home ok?” She had a light smile on her face but her concern was still there for both the visitors as well as their current predicament. Jonathan had known her long enough to see past the cool bravado to know she was flying by the seat of her pants now. And she didn’t like it.

[o] Bridge. Seifu here. Engineering is standing by. [c] Seifu was Senior Chief Petty Officer in Engineering ..

NCPO Bekele Seifu

Isaac was scanning to find the center and the event arising and set the yield for the torpedo. “Ok sir the yield is set and two targets are locked sir” he said. Him and his team have been working on the torpedos for a few days so he know about the yield.

Lt. Isaac Black (AC)

Just after giving the orders Ari might be struck from a scientific standpoint of realization that perhaps her orders were not the correct action to take. Given spatial torpedoes lacked any subspace ties, and photonic torpedoes only did o a small scale level when exploding and at that on a far different wave length of subspace then what they were seeing, likely this would do nothing. Equally so if she had read the previous report on scans that Black had given her just a few minutes ago she could see that the alien metal though quite thin, was just far too strong for any of their weapons to make a tent on.

Lastly there was also the factor that El had said this whole opening would be pretty small in the grand scheme, not much more then 10ft or so wide when fully opened (it was now at 8ft) its likely it wouldn’t send them anywhere or anywhen, nor would it likely spit out anything in return. It was a subspace rift solely meant to transmit some powerful long range comm signal from the alien artifact. In short if they wanted to have any chance of blocking or interfering with it they would have to do what El said and hope for the best, though equally if they didn’t want to risk the ship and their own lives nothing was stopping them from simply letting it do its thing, equally so they could just leave or any similar combination of not interfering with what was about to happen. Either way they had but just under 2 minutes to make something happen before the choice was taken from them!

Having nodded to weapons to fire, and nothing happened. Ari growled and slammed her fist on the comm. Her voice was gruff with rage a little more obvious than usual, for her. [O] Engineering! Bridge. You have one minute. Make it count. You have control to do what you suggested. Our plan didn’t work. [O]

She glanced at the XO and shook her head as her first came down hard enough on the console that she actually winced. “Damn it! I should have known!” She shook her head and hung her head waiting for the results of engineering’s plan. With both hands holding her up on the console, she pulled her right hand back as she bit her lip. The hand pulled automatically close to her body to protect the injury she was now trying to ignore. If anyone looked, when she shifted position and her hand moved, a small smear of blood would show at the waist of her uniform only to be covered again with her hand.

Another growl exited her lips a second later. “What’s taking so long?!” Usually a much calmer scientific minded woman, Ari was chomping at the bit more than usual this time as they waited for engineering to do their thing.

Her mind growled back at her as she waited in silence, fuming at the Science Station console.

She glanced up at the XO long enough to bark at him as well. “Her out people back on the ship… NOW! I won’t risk losing them if this planet does something stupid again. Being the cryo tubes of they aren’t already here.”

She turned her back to the main bridge to look at the station again. This time she glanced down at the bruised hand, bleeding from the force of the blow to the edge of the console, and wondered if the Doc would buy that it was a gym accident. She crawled her hand again and started at the view screen to see the results.

[o] Bridge. Engineering. El here. We’re ready. Engaging … warp flicker effect [c]

Lt Sanks sat at the Comm desk watching the channeling of the transmissions, and also trying to decipher if there was a channel that would make contact with the subspace wave and help us see what it was transmitting.
