Heather stopped in her search, had she really heard that? She had thought she had heard something right as the lights went out, but she was sure she heard someone talking again. If it was those engineers…
Turning back towards the corridor she stuck her head out and looked up and down the hallway. “Hello? Is anyone else on this deck?”

At the sound of the voice, Naomi froze. She shrugged off the source as her imagination, her mind not tired enough to fabricate such things. Pushing past the tightness in her stomach, she whipped about and trailed after the source.
Her determined steps vibrated off the metal within the corridor. Goosebumps began to surface across her flesh as she proceeded. She scanned the interior searching for life-signs. Her heartbeat leaped into her head, deafening her with its rapid pace and rushing blood.
“I swear, if someone is playing a prank, I’m going to be bloody angry. This is not funny!” Naomi’s voice echoed down the narrow space. Her form came into view shortly when she turned back down the corner to the Labs.

Okay, Heather thought, she really heard the voice reply that time. But why was it mirroring her on thoughts, because someone was going to be in big trouble if this was a prank. Thankfully she had found a flashlight, but maybe now would have been a good time to have a plasma pistol on hand.
OOC: Small correction atm no phase pistols or the like, only plasma based types refer to the era primer post for more info!
Taking a deep breath, she walked towards the doorway out of Lab 1. She was a Starfleet officer after all, and a scientist on top of that. There was no proven link to paranormal phenomena, and even if there was, the Sojourner was a brand new ship. Turning out of the doorway in the direction she thought she had heard the voice, Heather jumped at Naomi standing in the hallway. With the dim lights, in Heather’s mind there was just a shadow standing there.
It took her a second to remember that she was still holding the flashlight before she flicked it on. A nervous laugh escaped her lips as she finally realized it was another officer standing there.

OOC: Baahhhh, this is what I get for trying to post when tired. I second guess myself in the wrong direct. :-P
When the sound of the footsteps stopped in front of her, Naomi turned her head. A blaze of light stung her eyes and her hand rose.
“What the-” The woman uttered. A dizziness filled her head followed by floating shapes in her vision. Her hand braced against the wall.
“What are you trying to do, blind me?”

“What? Oh, sorry about that,” Heather said as she lowered the flashlight. “I didn’t know anyone else was on this deck, and then the lights went out, and…” Heather trailed off.
Taking a deep breath, Heather collected herself. “Let’s try this again. Commander Heather Grace. It’s nice to meet you Lieutenant…”

As the light moved, Naomi’s arm lowered. Her eyes squinted until Heather came into focus. She let the tense fade from her posture and listened to the comment. Satisfied by the answer, Naomi nodded.
“To make you feel less silly, I thought someone from the science department was pulling a prank.”
Noticing the breath, Naomi smiled.
“My name is Naomi Locke. Considering the spook we both got, I think we’ve earned first name privileges. ”
