“Lt Helena Laursen, ships pilot and navigation officer. A pleasure Cmdr Grace.” She held out her hand. “I’m familiar with the ship’s layout and the duty officer at the air lock told me where my berth is.” Of course the XO had things to discuss with Cpt Renault. Helena was still a Lt but that was because she was happy with her position and doing what she loved. She was, however, a seasoned officer and knew how things went. “I can find my way there and meet up with you later, Cpt?”

Nodding Heather took the offered hand.

“Oh, euhm… If you wouldn’t mind her joining us, we were going to quickly tour the ship together.” Marceau smiled at Heather again, “It seems you already know your way, perhaps you could show us around? Then we’ll get to work.”

~ Captain Renault

Helena grinned, oh wasn’t this wonderfully awkward. She stood their waiting to see if she should stay or go.

Lt Laursen, pilot

“Of course not, please join us. I didn’t mean to interrupt any plans you had already Captain, Lieutenant, so my apologies.

“Not at all,” Renault replied, “I am glad you came to join us.”

Helena shook her head smiling at the Cmdr. “Not at all. I am always happy to meet people I’ll be working with. We’re all going to know each other well in a couple of months.”

“As for the ship, I can give you the nickel tour, but I’m still finding my ways into all of the different corners. I’ve spent most of my time in the science labs since arriving, as they just dropped all of the supplies and ran.”

Marceau nodded, “The… nickel tour, as you say, is better than no tour. It is a new ship after all, what can one expect?” And then he chuckled good-naturedly. “We will have more than enough time to sort and put everything away on the way. As long as it makes it on board, I will be happy.”

Helena shook her head as she followed behind them. The stories were always the same. Items get dumped with no rhyme or reason no matter how much of a hurry things are or not. Helena had found the best to hope for was the items ended up with the right department.

Heather turned and started heading down the hallway towards the lift. “I hope you had a pleasant trip to the ship. Though I suspect it was a bit nicer then the transport ship that most of the crew arriving later this morning will be on.”

Cmdr. Grace - XO/CSO

Helena perked up a bit at that. “Do they need anyone to run a second transport?” A chance to fly more, even a short transport run, Helena was all for it.

Marceau flashed a little smile to Helena and then nodded. “It was a pleasant trip, yes. The rest of the crew should report in by 1100 this morning, and after that, we already have somewhere to be.”

~ Captain Renault

Helena smiled and shrugged a single shoulder. “I am to please, Cpt.” She was eager to know where they were going so she could get the course planned out, but she would be told when she needed to know.

Lt Laursen, pilot

Heather had to laugh slightly at Helena’s excitement to get back at the helm. “I think they have it covered for now. But don’t worry I’m sure you’ll get plenty of time at the helm of this ship soon enough.”

“Cmdr, do you know if both shuttle pods are docked onboard yet? I would really like to do test flights on both before we leave space dock. I would hate to find something is wrong, first time we have to land somewhere.”

Reaching into her uniform, Heather pulled out her datapad and looked through the inventory report that she had been last sent. “They are marked as both having been delivered. But I haven’t been down to the bay yet to see them for myself.”

As they all stepped into the lift, Heather hit the control for Deck C. “Senior officer quarters are on Deck C, with Junior Officer and non-comms split between Decks C, E and F. If we end up with a MACO team at some point, there is space set aside for their birthing on Deck D. Unfortunately for me, the science labs are also on D Deck.”

Heather tried not to think about that, hopefully they would stay out of her labs.

It wasn’t long before the lift opened up on C Deck. “Here we are. Captain, you are up this way,” Heather said pointing one way up the hallway. “My quarters are next door. And I believe Lieutenant, you are down this way.” Indicating the other direction from the lift, Heather made her way down the hallway.

“The shipyard crew had been labeling most of the quarters to help with move in. We don’t have a large crew, but with so many new people coming on board, anything that might help speed up the move in period is going to be needed.”

As they walked Heather pulled a small datapad out of her uniform pocket. On it she had a copy of the ships roster, with scheduled arrival times, quarter assignments, etc. Everything needed to hopefully make the move in go smoothly. It didn’t take her long to find Helena’s name on the list, just before they stopped in front of door number 10.

“And here you go Lieutenant.”

Cmdr. Grace - XO/CSO

Helena slipped passed around Grace, “Thank you, Cmdr.,” and she keyed the door and dropped her bags inside before the door shut again. Time to get settled later.

Lt Laursen, pilot

“So any requests on where to next? Bridge? Pod Bay?”

Cmdr Grace - XO/CSO
