“Agreed,” Heather said with a chuckle. “It’s nice to meet you Naomi, and not some, well I’m not sure what I was expecting to find out here. Last I looked there were only a handful of people on board right now, including a few engineers who I think I’m going to need to have a discussion with.

“Anyways, I was taking the opportunity to start getting the science labs in some sort of reasonable shape. It looks like they just dumped everything in the middle of the lab, and ran. Hopefully they handled the materials more carefully then their organizational skills would portray…

“So, when did you get on board?”

Cmdr. Grace - XO/CSO

“Yeah. Due to the CSO changing often, most officers just toss stuff in here and sort it later.” Naomi decided to omit the fact she was one of those people.

“I’m starting to think the job is cursed.”

She eyed the mess briefly before she caught the question.

“I’ve been here for a while. Hard to say how long, but definitely a senior officer. The bad part about space is that days blend into each other without a proper day and night cycle. Based on your face, I’m guessing you’re fairly new?”

The woman began move past, leaning down close to the first box and spying the labeling.

Heather raised an eyebrow at that comment, “I think I’m going to have to talk to some of those junior officers.”

Stepping to the side as Naomi moved past and into the lab, Heather turned and followed her. “I came on about 2 days ago, after finally making it back to Earth. I was on a survey mission out at Neptune when the orders came in to report to the Sojourner.

“So, looking for something in particular?”

Cmdr. Grace - XO/CSO

Naomi didn’t say anything. She held her comments as she pulled up a list, finding much to her relief that the hazardous materials were already secure.

“I got positive news, the hazardous materials are secure. Most of what’s here is equipment that needs sorting. Do you see the test tubes for the lab?” Her eyes were already glancing about the various labels.

“Well that’s a plus at least. The last thing we need is to be moving things around, and to spill something hazardous across the lab.

“As for test tubes,” Heather said looking around. “I thought I saw something over there.”

Walking around a few of the cases, Heather pushed one to the side and picked up a case from the bottom of the pile, marked fragile. “Yup that seems about right, bottom of the pile.”

Cracking open the case she did a quick peak inside, nothing seemed to be broken. “Do you have a manifest of what we were expecting to be delivered? All I have are the requests, but no confirmations on what they were going to deliver.”

Cmdr. Grace - XO/CSO

Naomi managed to keep the cringe from her face when she glanced over. The test tube location wasn’t ideal and even hurt her attempt to be positive. She kept her lips tight, listening to the question.

“Yeah, on my PADD.” Immediately the scientist pulled up the list.

“Ugh, this might take a while.” She offered Heather the device to see how extensive it was.
